That's a good take. Another element to be aware of is that there can be
a long list of requirements across a wide spectrum, so what gets chosen
often can be a compromise: the downselect criteria can be emphasizing
"minimize weaknesses" more than "find the best at X at all costs". As
such, one needs to be aware of the risk ramifications of a narrow use
case being bullied through.

Well, there is a Placebo effect if they know, especially if they're
paying extra for it. That's part of marketing too: they'll try to
convince you to buy that $900 golf driver which will fix your swing /
add yards / etc ... even though spending half of that for lessons would
have a bigger bang for the buck: Americans in particular are suckers
for "magic toys" which promise to offset low skills. That's why one
will find many gun nutz who brag about spending the money to get a 0.5
MOA gun who can't shoot even 2 or 3 MOA: they need to spend their money
(& time) out on the range practicing, not in the store poseuring: if you
want to become actually good, figure starting at 1000 rds/month.

Lie. -highhorse's *laugh* statement is ridicule for making the
"wrong" choice.

>I'm acknowledging that marketing hype works.

i.e. moving the goalposts.

>Case in point - how's your "Ultimate Driving Machine" these days?

More -highhorse ignorance and idiocy, as the 3-series was pretty-much
universally recognized as the best "driver's car" for the money, at
the time. At least in practical sedan form.

>...because its still at 3rd place on the Autobahn social hierarchy,

Only a douchebag like -highhorse would consider the "social hierarchy"
of the car important.

The douchebag's response to this post will be deleted, unread.

Because they did their job too well. They promoted Trump through the primaries
because they believed he was the only Republican Hillary could beat, but they
built him up too much.

In the nineteen fifties, Phillip Morris' Marlboro was a slow seller trying to
compete with RJ Reynolds' Winston. In the nineteen sixties their ad agency came
up with the Marlboro man. What was once a "women's smoke" quickly became
America's best selling cigarette.

AI Overview
"As of February 2024, Marlboro is the world's best-selling cigarette brand, and
has been since 1972. Marlboro is produced by Philip Morris International (PMI),
a New York-based company that sells its products in more than 180 countries. In
2023, PMI had over $31.8 billion in sales, making it the world's leading tobacco
company by net sales. Marlboro is popular with affluent urban smokers who prefer
high-quality international brands. It also has a large share of the US cigarette
market, holding over 40%."
Search terms: "best selling cigarette in the world"

The power of marketing.

Trump tweet
"My administration will be great for women and reproductive rights."
Is he crazy? He's been bragging about getting rid of Roe for years. He claimed
in his first and second general election campaigns he'd sign a national ban. Now
he's flip flopped and said he wouldn't.

Worse than the hypocrisy is that he thinks anybody with more than two brain
cells to rub together would believe him.

Project 2025 is the "terms and conditions" of Trump's presidency. Don't just
skip past it and click "I agree".

Pg 696 paves the way for the abolition of Social Security. Universal Savings
Accounts is another term for "Wall Street knows better how to use your money
than you do". Tell it to 2008. 696 also eliminates the Biden achievement of
lowering medication prices for Medicare patients. This is a blatant giveaway of
billions of tax dollars to the pharmaceutical companies.

That said, pothead consistently posts as pothead, just as you and I consistently
post under the same nym. Pothead is referring of course, to Rudy, though I
don't recall Creon saying Rudy's posts were that informative.

Nice job. :)

Trump has bragged repeatedly about ending abortion but is running away from the
Project 2025 call for a national ban.

"Former President Donald Trump bragged about the “amazing” accomplishment of
ending Roe v. Wade on Saturday — before telling a mostly evangelical crowd he
supported pregnancy termination in some situations. The presumptive Republican
presidential nominee made the comments at the Faith and Freedom Coalition
Conference in Washington DC just two days before the anniversary of the Supreme
Court ruling that overturned Roe."

That guns are more deadly and kill more people faster and from a longer distance
away than those other methods. If that were not true, there would be no guns.

With ~99% parts commonality, why wouldn't both be coming off of the same
production line?

Likewise, a requirement for dedicated facilities is obsolete today; it
was removed years ago from even the Lake City (LCAAP) Government Owned
Contractor Operated (GOCO) ammunition contract:

"If you heard the rumor that Lake City Army Ammunition plant has stopped
manufacturing and selling commercial ammunition to focus on military
sales, you’ve been duped. Yes, the rumor is false and Lake City Army
Ammunition Plant put it to rest yesterday when they posted onto their
Social media, “Joint Munitions Command has not changed its policy
regarding commercial production at Lake City. Lake City has not
cancelled commercial contracts.” So, you can ease back on your panic
buying and loosen that tinfoil regarding at least THIS conspiracy theory."

FYI, when you're in that neighborhood, a good stop for BBQ is Zarda's in
Blue Springs.

Nah, a *laugh* would only apply if you grossly overpaid, and compared to
the retail profit margins on AR-15's, a BMW just isn't overpriced.

So? Because best-for-the-money is now synonymous with "Ultimate"?
Oops.

And because a penultimate "Driving Machine" also has to be a sedan?
Oops.

Remind us again about who is doing the goalpost moving...!
