STARKVILLE, Miss. (WJTV) – Starkville police arrested a 16-year-old for allegedly killing a woman and injuring two others after a fight.

Police said an argument occurred at Brookville Garden apartments on Everglade Avenue just after 10:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6.

According to investigators, 16-year-old McKenzie Robinson, of Starkville, was in a vehicle during the fight. They said Robinson struck several individuals, killing a 59-year-old woman and injuring two others. The two injured victims were treated and released.

Robinson has been charged with murder and two counts of aggravated assault. The incident remains under investigation.

An illegal immigrant was recently sentenced in Superior Administrative Court to 14 to 17 years in prison for raping an 11-year-old girl in Clyde earlier this year.

Around 9 p.m. on May 20, Antonio Aquin Vasquez-Molina entered the bedroom of his girlfriend’s 11-year-old daughter while she was sleeping and forcibly raped her. The girl’s mother had left their residence in Clyde to get food, said Assistant District Attorney Jeff Jones.

A man who was convicted of raping a dozen women in Atlanta over a three-year period has been sentenced to 12 consecutive life terms.

Dandre Shabazz, 56, was sentenced March 3 by Fulton County Superior Court Senior Judge Alford Dempsey, who presided over the case. Feb. 26, Shabazz was convicted by a jury of rape, kidnapping, armed robbery, aggravated assault with deadly weapon, aggravated sodomy and aggravated child molestation in several incidents involving 12 female victims.

According to a news release, all of the rapes took place between 2002 and 2005 in locations in the southwest Atlanta area.

“Shabazz is a violent serial rapist who targeted young African-American females who were alone late at night,” the release stated. “Shabazz specifically focused upon women who were struggling and in many cases were sex workers. During the attacks, Shabazz utilized a gun and did not wear a condom.”

DNA evidence collected from some of the sexual assault kits from Shabazz’s victims that were stored at Grady Memorial Hospital helped crack the cold case. They were part of the group of about 1,500 backlogged kits that went untested for, in some cases, as many as 15 years until federal grant funding and a new Georgia law required they be examined.

The Fulton County district attorney’s office played a major role in recovering and transporting the kits to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) for testing.

In 2017, the GBI notified the district attorney’s office of a Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) match between Shabazz and a sexual assault kit collected in 2003. Shabazz was later matched to the kits collected from the remaining victims in this case.

He was indicted by a Fulton County grand jury in 2018. Shabazz was serving a prison sentence in North Carolina for robbery and other related charges and, without this indictment, was expected to be released in September 2019.

This case was prosecuted by the Fulton district attorney’s office’s sexual assault kit initiative task force. The group was formed in March 2018, as a result of a $1 million U.S. Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance Grant. The Fulton district attorney’s office was one of only five district attorney’s offices nationwide to receive the award. The task force is dedicated to exclusively investigating and indicting cases resulting from CODIS matches.

“This man was a violent and ruthless serial rapist,” Fulton District Attorney Paul Howard Jr. said in the release. “Because rape kits were not tested in a timely manner, he was allowed not only to continue to prey upon the women of our community, but he almost got away with his brutal crimes, scot-free. I am thankful to all of the people who worked so hard to get these rape kits tested. The criminal justice system should never allow rape kits to go untested again.”

A 20-year-old man arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman he met on social media remains in jail, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim reported that she had been conversing with a subject she met through social media and had previously met in-person.

On March 23, the victim and the suspect agreed to meet again. An investigation conducted by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit determined she became incapacitated and was sexually assaulted by the suspect inside of a vehicle, LCSO reports.

On March 31, Jalen J. Paige, 20, of no fixed address was charged with rape of a victim through mental incapacity or helplessness. Paige remains held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.

BENTON COUNTY, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A Fayetteville man was arrested on April 10 after a child abuse hotline received a report that a minor girl had been raped.

Lemont McClinton, 41, was booked into the Benton County jail and is being held on a $500,000 bond. He has a court appearance scheduled for May 15.

According to court documents, the Bentonville Police Department received the child abuse hotline report involving McClinton on April 3. The victim came to the Children’s Advocacy Center and said that she had been raped.

The child told investigators that the suspect covered her mouth and nose and pulled her head back, causing her to get dizzy. She also said that it happened more than once because “her mom was gone a lot, and her siblings went to friends’ houses.”

She detailed multiple places where the rapes occurred and said that they happened when she was 12, 13 and 14 years old. She added that McClinton told her “she could not say anything.”

The Benton County circuit court issued an order on April 11 forbidding McClinton from contacting the victim. It also banned him from any unsupervised contact with minors.

According to a probable cause affidavit, McClinton is facing a class Y felony rape charge. A public defender has been appointed as his counsel.

CONCORDIA PARISH, La. (WJTV) – A Natchez man, who worked as a hospital security guard in Louisiana, has been arrested and is facing multiple charges.

Investigators with the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office said Javontrics Murphy, 27, was a hospital security guard and had been employed by the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office since March 2024. They said Murphy was fired after he was charged with three counts of malfeasance in office, three counts of first-degree rape, obstruction of justice and simple battery.

According to investigators, the sheriff’s office received a criminal complaint on August 30, 2024, alleging misconduct by Murphy involving a 15-year-old. He was placed on administrative leave, and the investigation was referred to the Louisiana State Police for review.

Once the investigation was completed, Murphy was arrested and fired from his position with the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office.

“We uphold our core values to the highest degree and any misconduct that meets the threshold for criminal prosecution will be dealt with as such. I am saddened by the details of this case and stand by my commitment to protect the children in Concordia Parish,” said Concordia Parish Sheriff David Hedrick.

Louisiana State Police said the investigation remains active and ongoing.

CHATHAM — A Cascade man was given the strictest punishment possible by a jury for raping a young family member.

A Pittsylvania County jury recommended three life sentences in prison for Shaun Lamont Morrison, 36, Wednesday evening for rape, forcible sodomy and abduction.

The victim was a young girl who lived on Cascade Road.

The incident happened at a residence on June 1, 2015, where Morrison and the victim, 12 at the time, were in a bedroom together.

The girl, with little understanding of human anatomy, used words like “private area” and “poo poo” to describe Morrison’s actions to her.

Morrison moved the bed “against the door” before the rape began, the girl testified.

“Did it hurt?” Pittsylvania County Chief Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Nate Griffith asked her.

“Yes,” she replied.

“Were you crying?” Griffith asked. “Yes,” she responded.

A “pillow and blanket” were used to keep her screaming from being heard by the victim’s six brothers and sisters, she said.

Morrison’s attorney, Curtis Thornhill, questioned in his opening argument if the incident went the way the girl said.

The girl remembers “screaming and yelling the whole time” the incident occurred.

Her mother admitted she did not call the Department of Social Services at first because she was “shocked” and also was afraid of Morrison.

For her, the priority was putting the victim and her siblings in a local hotel in Danville for “safety.”

Morrison was arrested four days after the incident. Pittsylvania County sheriff’s deputies recovered a pair of red shorts the girl was wearing the day of the incident.

Pittsylvania County Commonwealth’s Attorney Bryan Haskins said in his opening statement the shorts worn during the “traumatic” and “painful” act were unwashed.

“The possibility of contamination is extremely high” due to the residence they lived in being unkempt, Thornhill said.

DNA was found on the shorts that didn’t belong to the girl. “Shaun Morrison cannot be eliminated” as a person who contributed to the DNA, according to a forensic expert.

It was a 7 billion chance the DNA did not belong to Morrison, Haskins said.

He is scheduled to be formally sentenced in February.

BRYAN, Texas — A Rockdale man will spend the next two decades after being sentenced on two counts of Sexual Assault of a Child.

According to the Brazos County District Attorney's Office, Jamarr Zamora, 22, picked up a 15-year-old victim in November 2022 and took her to a hotel in College Station and sexually assaulted her. The victim's mother reported her missing on Nov. 27, only to have her return the day after to also reveal that she had been sexually assaulted by Zamora.

The Robertson County Sheriff's Office began to investigate the case and discovered that not only did Zamora sexually assault the teenage victim, but there was another victim that was 14 years old.

When a College Station Police Department Detective took over the investigation and interviewed Zamora, he confessed to the alleged crimes, stating that he picked the victims up at their homes on multiple occasions and took them to hotels in the city to do what he was accused of.

“This Defendant manipulated and sexually abused vulnerable teenagers," said Assistant District Attorney Jessica Escue in a press release. "Our office will strongly respond to anyone who seeks to harm a child in this community.”

An Atlanta man who allegedly told a woman he was gay to gain her trust before raping her has been convicted of the crime.

In a news release, Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard Jr.’s office announced a Fulton Superior Court jury convicted Taurence Callagain, 36, of rape Feb. 21. Judge Eric Dunaway presided over the case, and Callagain will be sentenced at a date to be determined.

Several weeks before Sept. 6, 2015, the victim in the case met Callagain at the H.E. Holmes MARTA station in west Atlanta. They rode the same train and eventually exchanged phone numbers.

According to the release, the victim is a lesbian and has a female partner who she was in a relationship with when she met the defendant. Callagain told the victim he was gay to make her think their relationship was strictly platonic.

The victim regularly rode two MARTA buses and a train to commute to and from work. Sept. 6, 2015, after the victim missed the final bus of the night at 11:40 p.m., Callagain offered her a ride home so she didn’t have to walk a mile and a half to her apartment in the Allen Hills complex.

According to the release, Callagain said he first had to stop at his house to pick up some marijuana.

“When they arrived, Callagain and the victim entered his home,” the release stated. “At that point, the victim thought they were going to Callagain’s bedroom to smoke marijuana when he began to strangle her and proceeded to violently rape her. During the rape, Callagain told the victim if she fought or screamed, ‘I will get my boys to come in and hold you down.’

“The victim heard a male voice in the house, so she was terrified that if she kept screaming Callagain would, in fact, do as he said. Eventually, the victim escaped the defendant’s room, and she fled the location.”

The victim ran three miles to her home in the middle of the night before going to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment and then calling the police. She accurately described the interior of Callagain’s home, and her underwear was found in his laundry hamper.

According to the release, the defendant claimed the sex was consensual, but he was later arrested. Callagain has a pending aggravated assault case in Fulton but has no other criminal history.

ALBANY – An Albany man now faces murder charges after his victim in an Aug. 10 assault on South Jefferson Street later died.

An off-duty police officer found Melissa Law unconscious in the 900 block of South Jefferson Street, and police later determined that she had been sexually assaulted during the attack, according to the Albany Police Department. She was removed from life support on Aug. 18, police said.

Johnnie Jones, 61, was identified as a suspect and was later arrested.

Jones is now charged with murder, aggravated assault, aggravated sodomy, aggravated rape, aggravated stalking and aggravated battery.

He is being held in the Dougherty County Jail.

BENTON COUNTY, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A Bentonville man out on bond following an arrest on rape and sexual assault charges was arrested again for allegedly raping another minor girl.

David Brian Robinson, 19, was arrested by Bentonville Police on March 31 and booked into the Benton County jail on a $500,000 cash bond. He is facing charges of rape and violation of conditions of release.

According to court documents, the Bentonville police began an investigation on March 24 after a report of an inappropriate sexual relationship between Robinson and a minor girl. The victim spoke to a forensic interviewer on March 28 and stated that she met Robinson in October 2022 through a mutual friend and “David told her that he was 16.”

She said she “snuck out of her house and drove to David’s” before her 16th birthday in mid-February. She said that at his house, he “started touching her and was being very aggressive toward her to the point she felt scared.”

Her statement said that she began having consensual sex with him but then told him to stop and he did not and that she tried to pull away from him but couldn’t. She also reported seeing a “quick flash,” but Robinson denied that he was recording her.

The victim said she used a moment when Robinson reached for something to get up, get dressed and leave. She allowed investigators to forensically search her cell phone, which gave them his phone number and communications from her asking him to delete images he had of her in a folder titled “My Eyes Only.”

Police executed a search warrant at Robinson’s residence on March 31 and seized items that corroborated the victim’s statement.

Judge rejects De La Garza’s bid for new rape trial
Robinson is also facing three counts of rape and two counts of second degree sexual assault in a separate case filed on November 2, 2022.

“It should also be noted that records of other law enforcement agencies reflect that David Robinson has been a suspect in at least six other rape investigations over the past three years,” a detective wrote in an affidavit of probable cause. “All of these investigations involve victims who are between 14 and 17 years old.”

Robinson has a court appearance scheduled for May 23 in Benton County circuit court. He is currently being held in the Benton County jail.

DAWSON — Dawson Mayor Christopher Wright has been indicted on five sex-related charges, including rape and child molestation.

According to the Terrell County Sheriff’s Office, Wright was contacted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday and told that he was being indicted on the charges of aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy, rape, child molestation and statutory rape. Officials said Wright then turned himself in at the Terrell County Sheriff’s Office.

Craig Earnest, the district attorney of the Pataula Judicial Circuit, confirmed Wednesday afternoon that Wright had been indicted Tuesday by a Terrell County grand jury.

“We presented evidence to a grand jury, and I will confirm that the grand jury did indict Mr. Wright on aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy, child molestation, rape and statutory rape charges,” Earnest said. “And I also can confirm that the evidence that was presented to the grand jury came to light in the case involving Milton Johnson.”

Johnson was convicted of multiple sex-related crimes — including rape, aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy and sex exploitation of a child — earlier this year and received life-in-prison sentences.

Wright has been the center of controversy since he became mayor of Dawson in 2012 at the age of 22. In October 2013, Wright was the victim of a shooting at his Dawson home. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and remained in critical condition for some time.

In February, Wright, through an attorney, denied allegations made during Johnson’s trial on child molestation. A teenage witness said during testimony that she had sex with Wright in 2012.

Wright appeared Wednesday afternoon in Magistrate Court. According to the Terrell County Sheriff’s Office, he posted a $50,000 bond and was released.

Earnest said Wright’s arraignment is scheduled for June 19 in Terrell County.

ADothan teenager has been arrested for sexually assaulting someone on Dothan High School’s campus.

Donovan Jamirr Franklin, 17, is being charged with first-degree rape and two counts of first-degree sodomy, according to a press release.

The Dothan Police Department stated it was made aware of the sexual assault allegations on Monday. The offenses occurred between March 8 and March 12.

Franklin is being charged as an adult. No further details will be released due to the sensitive nature of the case, but additional arrests are possible.

Dothan City Schools Public Information Officer Meagan Dorsey released this statement in response to the charges filed:

“Dothan City School officials were recently made aware of allegations of an incident that occurred on the campus of Dothan High School in March 2021. District and school officials are working with the Dothan Police Department to investigate the incident. Trained personnel quickly responded, implementing their Title IX response plan to determine what may have occurred and immediately notified the Dothan Police Department as soon as the incident was reported.

At Dothan City Schools, the safety and security of our students is always our utmost concern. We take all reports of this nature seriously and work closely with our law enforcement partners to investigate and take appropriate actions.”

Kevarnie Queen met nearly all of the women he raped on Snapchat, a court heard

A teenage serial rapist dubbed the "Brixton R Kelly" has been jailed after a three-year campaign of sexual violence against six women.

Kevarnie Queen, 19, was convicted in August of 22 counts of rape committed between 2019 and 2022.

He was 15 when he carried out most of his offences, with all the complainants under the age of 18.

One said she "lost her innocence, her voice, and her integrity" due to Queen's actions, Inner London Crown Court heard.

Judge Usha Karu handed Queen an extended sentence of 16 years on Monday - including 12 years in custody and four years on extended licence.

He was spotted with tear tracks on his face as he left the dock.

The judge said the victims in the case "have all been severely traumatised" and "given their youth, this is likely to be long-lasting".

Queen has been likened on social media to US singer R Kelly, who was sentenced in February to more than 30 years in prison for using his fame to sexually abuse young fans.

The Crown Prosecution Service said Queen met all but one of the complainants through Snapchat, an instant messaging app, and "flatter and groom them" before arranging to meet.

The court was told Queen would call the women "beautiful" and invite them over before initiating sexual activity "whether any of them consented or not"- often ignoring pleas for him to stop.

On one reported occasion, a woman told Queen he had just raped her, and he responded: "No, that's not rape, don't tell this to anyone. That's not rape."

A number of the women suffered from sexually transmitted infections, with the CPS saying he had "no regard for his victims".

He was arrested in 2020 and denied the rape charges, claiming the complainants were part of a hate campaign against him.

The women in the case had told of attempting suicide or having suicidal thoughts, being manipulated by the defendant, being unable to trust men and no longer believing in love, the court heard.

Referring to one of the women, the judge said: "(She) speaks of your manipulative behaviour and how she 'lost' herself.

"She had confided in you about having been previously abused and you took advantage of her vulnerability.

"She suffers from flashbacks, her present relationship has been affected, she finds it difficult to trust others and has relived past trauma that she had tried to bury."

Judge Karu told Queen: "You are a confident young man and appear to continue to hold the same firm views in respect of sex, and entitlement to it, which you did at the time of offending."

Queen was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order as well as indefinite notification requirements.
