Yesterday, I was looking to try out Debian since it's one of the few
distributions that hasn't gone down the social justice rabbit hole.
Admittedly, I had no idea which desktop environment to select. I tried
LXQt because I've been aware of the project for years but it looks like
it's not yet ready for prime time. I then tried KDE and was reminded of
why I didn't like it in the first place. I want to avoid GNOME because
it is dyong, consumed by the progressive virus. I'd have chosen Cinnamon
but if I wanted to use that, I'd just use Linux Mint. XFCE is probably
the way to go.

It ain't perfect, but I run MATE (on Mint). It probably is a sort of
superGnome, but it works OK and is far from the biggest load on the
computer.

It's not about "modified" genetics - the fact of the matter is that
*nobody* is purely male or female. We *all* have a mix of "gender related"
characteristics.

I don't have a choice but to consider things like MATE, XFCE and other
smaller desktop environments because my last experience with Linux
resulted in random freezes in Linux Mint. It seems to be a problem
inherited from Ubuntu, but it's been around for a while with no fix in
sight. Heck, people don't even seem to know what is causing it. I had to
go back to Windows for an acceptable experience.
