The thing is minor petrol fires are common - a fuel leak under the
bonnet and a hot exhaust sees to that.
But you can put it out. With water
With EV fires you let it burn out along with the house it's parked in....

Actually, it has been proven that sending aid to africa only enriches
dictators and does very little to actually help the population. It also
creates an incentive, never to develop their countries themselves.

Africa would be much better off without aid, and thus being forced to
solely rely on business and building up their countries.

Wow, you are a hero! I am surprised that the school did not kick you out
based on everything I have heard about Jordan Peterson fighting to be
able to address people as he or she. Maybe there are small pockets of
freedom in canada?

Regardless, you should receive some kind of medal for your service to
humanity and rationality!

I've had moslems in my classes, although not in the same numbers as you,
and what I find works, is strict discipline, no bending of the rules,
and treating everyone exactly the same.

The ones who can't take it disappear early, for the benefit of the
class. And the ones who remain actually start to shape up and respect
you as a teacher.

During the times when I had moslems trying to rob me in the street, or
assault me, I utilized the same defense. Not budging a millimeter, and I
am absolutely 100% certain that that is what saved me from any serious
bodily harm in the end.

It was also quite fun to see how confused they were once they found a
white man who didn't back down.

It is also interesting to note that they are herd animals and only
attack when they have superiority in numbers. When they don't they are
soft and meek.

Great idea! I think I shall do the same when teaching this autumn. Do
you have a link? =)

After watching the fire burn your car and house down, the first thing a
Tesla owner usually does is walk toward the charred remains of his loved
ones and whispers "I would buy one again."

I'm in favour of anything that ensures that not one cent of Western
money goes to Africa.

My father and I (who share a gasoline car, how's that for _real_ green!;)
) have always driven Renault or Volvo and we've had them about 15 years or
so and there never was any transmission problems.

The problems I can think of have been mostly related to the electrical
system (windows, warning lights not shutting off etc.). Once the handbrake
got stuck also. Otherwise, the cars have been a dream to own and drive for
up to 15 years which is the point at which we usually sell them and buy
1-3 year old car.

By pure chance (?) I saw this today "Abundant Energy Makes The World
Better" and I think it is a nice talk illustrating how dishonest climate
hysteric reporting is in the mainstream media.

I do not agree with Björn Lomborg about everything, I do not believe
humans are the main driver of climate change, but, the guy proposes
solutions which I can accept as a climate rationalist, instead of the
climate hysterics "go back to medieval times and taxes" strategy.

Jordan Peterson was in Ontario which has already submitted to the
religion of wokeness. I'm in Quebec. Woke is regularly criticized by
some of the media but for a teacher, it's still risky to go against it.
When I was teaching on the West end of the city to Anglophones, it was
clear that having an opinion contrary to that of the woke was risky.
That's why I returned to teaching Francophones who absolutely despise
anything which might weaken their culture. The French language and
Quebec culture comes first to them, and that's fine by me.

I am extremely strict with them in the classroom and they seem to
respect that. I routinely had Muslim students I didn't even have
greeting me in the hallways. At the same time, I see it as an attempt
for them to try to get me to weaken my guard. I would rather they think
I'm an unlikable asshole than anything remotely close to a friend.

It helps that I am twice the size of even the largest Muslims in the
school. Even if they were to try to pick a fight, they wouldn't get very
far.

I had a Volvo s40 2001 as my first car. It was a fun enough drive but I
had a bunch of problems with it along the way. I still think I could
have gotten to 1,000,000 km with it if I wanted to, but it was already
rusting prematurely in 2004 and by the time I got rid of it in 2010, I
had already gotten to 210,000km with it. I felt like I needed something
newer and got a Jeep Patriot. Looking back, I should have held on to the
Volvo since the Patriot was a serious piece of poop.

Fifteen years is what everyone should try to get out of a car, in my
opinion. Like you, I would have liked to buy them three years used too.
However, I have a wife who insists on having a luxury car and she hates
the thought of buying a car someone else's ass has been in so new is the
only option.

My complaint is that it's not really "open" per-se,
but licensed.

It will be interesting to see what car I will buy next time in about 1-5
years or so. I've been trying to propose to my wife that we should stop
flying, since the security theater, delays and generally the bad
experience of sharing a plane with loud drunks, screaming children etc.
gets too much on my nerves, and if she does buy into that idea (which I
doubt) we'll need to buy a car that would be comfortable to drive for 8
hours at a stretch. We'd need a really quiet car. But let's see what the
future holds. Maybe I can buy my own small DA-42 instead to solve the
flying problem! ;)

Yes, I wonder how many Tesla owners hold on to their tesla for 15 years?
;) My problem with my wife is that she needs culture so she won't let us
move away to a forest somewhere for a peaceful life. But what can you do? ;)

You are describing a Jaguar luxury saloon. :-)

As much as I hate flying, I think I hate the idea of an eight-hour drive
even more. No matter how comfortable the car, I always end up with pain
in my left leg when driving for more than an hour at a time. However, we
are currently avoiding flying because of how uncontrollable our toddler
is. We don't want to annoy others for hours at a stretch.

I already told my wife that I would be willing to quit my teaching
position, move to some remote area and just take teaching contracts over
there, but she believes that I am bluffing and that I am attached to my
permanent position teaching inner-city youth. Admittedly, I don't mind
the inner-city stock since they're usually a lot more grateful that you
tried helping them out, but I don't have any kind of loyalty to them
either. I would much rather be in the woods somewhere, far away from
dark-skinned people than surrounded by them.

Actually that is one option that did cross my mind! I think I read
somewhere that one of the more quiet cars is a Mercedes 500 class, so that
might be another option.

This is a concern to me. I don't get any pains until after 2-3 hours,
but my hope is that buying a more upscale car, this could be extended to
4-5 hours or so, in which case I'd be good. A lunch break after 4 hours
solves any aches and pains for me.

May you be blessed! Many have been my business trips with screaming
toddlers around me, and if not screaming toddlers, parents who raise
their children with ipads in front of their eyes 24/7 and think it is a
good idea to do that on planes with the sound on the maximum setting, so
that the passengers can enjoy their computer game sounds too for several
hours! ;)

Many have been the evil eyes from mothers when I told them to shut off
the volume after half an hour or so.

One can always dream! =) Maybe a nice hybrid would be to renovate the
family cabin outside Stockholm for winter use. On the other hand, living
there for too long could land me in some tax problems (I no longer live
in sweden), but perhaps it could be a good way to slowly ease my wife
into the lifestyle of living away from the city for extended periods of
time.

The most comfortable I've ever been was in the BMW 428i we had a while
back. The X3 was just as comfortable, but I don't know how good it would
be long-term since I only drove it for a day. The chairs they use in
front of their vehicles are by far the absolute best I've ever been in
though.

The end result is that I get those kids as students and they can't
follow even the simplest instructions because there are no emojis and
sound effects coming out of my mouth. I can't stand these parents, but I
will admit that when my kid is absolutely nuts in a public setting,
you're better off handing him your cell phone for a bit than having him
go around annoying everyone.

I have never seen the benefit of living in the city. When you're young,
it's great because you're never too far from the best schools but once
you graduate, it just sucks. I tried to enjoy it in my 20s by going to
concerts and sports matches, but I still would have preferred to be in
some isolated setting with a portable music player and watch those
matches on television.

That is a good point! For a brief time, when my job required a lot of
driving, I did own a BMW 3-series.

It is easy for me to complain since I don't have children, and most
likely never will. I always wonder if I would cave in during similar
circumstances?

Me too. I'm not a big fan of huge crowded events, and going to movie
theaters today is a no go as well, since they are full with people
shouting and talking through the movie.

I vote 100% for your concept of a portable music player in the country
side!

I have a dream, when happily settled, to work out a deal with the local
super market and/or farmer to enable drone delivery to myself, so I
could reduce my driving as well. A daily walk or two to the nearby lake
for some fishing is all the exercise I require. ;)

Round here the supermarkets send a man in a van, if you order online.

The only 3 series I ever drove was a 320i. I don't know if it was in
dire need of maintenance or not, but it was very underwhelming.
Otherwise, the 428i and X3 are the only ones I've ever been in. I
actually kind of miss having one considering how much I loved the X3
that one day I had it.

I know the feeling. I recall going to the movies this one time with my
wife to see Mirrors with Kiefer Sutherland in the theater. A pack of
four or five teenagers decided to sit in the front row and make idiotic
comments throughout. I waited to see if anyone was going to do anything
about it, but us Canadians tend to let sleeping dogs lie so I eventually
realized that I had to act or nobody would. I got up from my seat,
absolutely irate, walked down, tripped and nearly fell. Then, I walked
over to where the guys were and very sternly told them that if they
didn't shut the Hell up immediately, I would grab one of them at random
and beat the living snot out of them before breaking their legs. I must
have been very convincing because they stayed quiet for the second half
of the movie. Unsurprisingly, a guy later shouted "yeah, I was going to
do that!" but they never do.

A similar thing happened at a comedy club a few years later. For some
reason, some dick decided to come into my alley and talk to his friend.
I and anyone else around me couldn't hear the routine because the guy
kept talking over the comedian to his friend. I eventually turned to him
and asked him to shut up because we paid for the show. His response:
"that's not my problem." That's when I got up and told him that it was
going to very much become his problem if I had to tell him again. He got
the point and left, even his friend didn't defend him. Like the previous
time, a guy eventually said "yeah, I was going to do that!" and moments
later, a security guard came and asked me if things were okay. Nothing
else happened.

I can't stand inconsiderate people.

I'd love that. The only thing I can't stand about the country side is
bugs. However, it's getting to the point that there will be no way to
live in the city anyway. The Muslims are dead set on taking over and the
negroes are so dumb they can be manipulated to be useful idiots and help
them. Speaking of, just today:

I had to go over to buy some smoke detectors to replace defective ones
at home. As I left the parking lot, there was a car in front of me going
needlessly slow and swerving from one lane to another. I opted to pass
them completely. At the next stop which was also a very busy
intersection, I noticed the same car completely burn the stop and nearly
collide with another car that was trying to turn. The driver then
finally stopped behind a pile of cars looking to turn left. Once I got
the chance, I looked into the offending car to see what kind of imbecile
would drive so dangerously. What I found was a negress, looking down at
her cellphone even after almost killing herself. I imagine that the
entire time, she was texting or watching a video of people twerking.
