They may not put it in the same terms, yeah, but I've seen people at
various levels of knowledge of computers come to this conclusion, that
their device should stick with a certain version. For my box, it'd be
Win11, which was released the same year I built it, 2021. I realize
now that while 12 would support it, it would grossly outgrow my
hardware, even 11 isn't great. *This* is why Linux is better than all
of the above.

Jeff's computer could boot Win11, but it wouldn't be that great. It's
a great example of how M$ sucks, they're "supporting" his machine with
a version that is bloated to hell, but he has no choice once 10 is out
of support, if he wants said support.

They also don't want to be Microsoft's beta testers. Upgrading Windows is
always an "iffy" proposition.

In Windows getting rid of the built-in anti-virus application is probably
not a good idea. I have no corporate crapware on my Windows partition, it
still is much more sluggish than Linux on the same machine. And updates are
always painful, even when nothing goes wrong.

There's no direct upgrade path from Windows 10 to Windows 11 on many older
machines still in use. And, in the current economy a lot of people can't
afford a new computer so they run an ad infested version the same basic OS
they're already running.

I don't think that people are aware of problems they might have with
Windows the way that we are. When something doesn't work, they're often
genuinely surprised. I tend to hear things like "it's worked fine for
years until..." In most cases, these people could easily resolve their
issues without my intervention, but most computer users aren't like us;
they don't understand the need for updates or even anti-malware. With
time, it only seems to get worse.

When you consider that most of my young pupils have no idea what folders
are on a computer or why anyone would need them, there doesn't seem to
be much light at the end of the tunnel.

If those people absolutely insist on holding onto the old hardware, then
Linux or something like Haiku will become their only options. More
realistically though, they will likely just upgrade since their hardware
will be about eight-years-old by then. If they don't want to, I get the
impression that they'll migrate to a tablet or something.

I _hope_ that they don't have problems, only because I believe in what
Linux as an alternative. However, it has since become a bastion of woke
and I find myself cheering for its success a lot less than I used to.

I can't imagine which software would refuse to uninstall. To be fair,
this might be why applications like Revo Uninstaller exist. I purchased
it to make sure that every last remnant of a program gets removed, but
it also allows you to remove the stubborn crap. The purchase was made to
support them; most of their functions are available at no charge.

That's true. But what kids DO know is that there games can be played on
Windows 10 and they're not sure if they'll run right on Windows 11 or not.
(At least that's the case with my kids.)

It's not a matter of "insisting to hold on to" — it's a matter of not being
able to afford new hardware. More so in the "undeveloped" world. Their
solution is to keep running an outdated Windows version. But I honestly
believe that Microsoft will (again) extend support for Windows 10. Otherwise
it's like cutting off their own nose to spite their face.

I have yet to come across that doesn't play as well in 11 as it did in
10. Of course, I'm not replaying games I finished a decade ago either.

The undeveloped world already seems to be acquainted with Linux, if the
example of Cuba is anything to go by. Every time I went there, I noticed
that the machines were running Linux.

I'm surprised that it's still selling as well as it is. Third is still a
good place to be in.

Either way, I'm not the customer they would be interested in having. I
never drank that much and now have decided to stop drinking entirely. If
it's not Tyskie out of Poland, I just don't want it.

I don't have a clue what games would do in Windows 11 vs Windows 10. It's my
kids who are sticking with Windows 10. Of course they took a while to move
from Windows 7 to Windows 10 for the same reason. My wife has moved to
Windows 11 on her desktop and laptop and she doesn't seem to notice much
difference. I think I still have a Windows 11 install somewhere... or maybe
that's the machine I gave to my son. I didn't notice much difference. But I
log into Windows probably once every three months. And normally I just do it
to update it. On one of my Windows' partitions I forgot the password, so I
just deleted it and gave the whole drive to Linux.

Some people in the U.S. and Canada might have to learn Linux also, if the

Bud Light was huge. It wasn't just the number one beer in the U.S., it was
the number one beer by a big margin. It had a lot of inertia to overcome.
Most people in the U.S. would be amazed at how quickly it's falling on the
sale's chart.

I'm not a customer at all. I've never drank single a beer in my life. But I
hear it was kind of crap beer anyhow. Sales depended completely on effective
advertising. I guess that's why it collapsed so quickly with lousy Woke
marketing.

I think I mentioned that on one of my walks I saw a push lawnmower with a
'free' sign on the side of the road. It had a free six pack of Bud Light
on the deck.

If they stop being able to afford to upgrade their computers then yes, I
imagine that a lot of people will choose to hold onto their hardware and
look for a way to do so despite no longer getting Windows update. It's
also possible that they won't care that they are no longer receiving
updates and simply hold onto an unpatched Windows.
