The Catholic Church allows a good deal of latitude.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution_and_the_Catholic_Church

As you know the CoCC defines what Catholics believe, what they don't
believe, and areas where they are free to chose. afaik a Catholic can
believe in young Earth creationism if they so chose but I doubt many do.
That's more of a Protestant fundamentalist thing.

fwiw the Big Bang theory was proposed by Georges Lemaître, a Catholic
priest. Einstein believed in a steady state universe and introduced a
cosmological constant to make his math come out right. He ate some crow
over that.

Interesting, thank you for that lesson.

Pretty much. Such stuff is partly why I decided that I would encrypt all
of my e-mail a few years ago. My contacts, calendar and e-mail are all
encrypted. I insist that my communications remain private.

The amount of faith it takes for you to suspend all logic to believe
that humans evolved from a single cell is no greater than the amount of
faith I have that God created humans. There are quite a few books on the
matter showing that it is not only impossible but that the evidence of
such evolution simply doesn't exist. However, you are free to follow
your Darwinist religion much as I am free to follow Catholicism.

The problem is it has not been demonstrated that these are the natural
results of physics or chemistry. Unless I have, somehow, missed your
"fact-based" explanation about how life originated from non-life, or how
chance can produce the complexity of life — or coordinate supposedly
thousands (millions?) of random mutations to somehow "create" complex organs
like eyes.

Blind chance is just too ridiculous of a hypothesis to explain the
multitudes and varieties of complex life. I'm not that gullible.

Exactly. Evolution is faith-based. No one knows *how* evolution actually
happened, but they believe by faith in the "fact" of Evolution. (They might
as well capitalize the word "Evolution" because it has all the creative
powers of God.)

Unfortunately that's not good science. That's guesswork or speculation. But
atheistic "scientists" (so-called) glommed on to it because it gave them an
alternative to God.

That's called adaptation, or "micro-evolution." That's not what
evolutionists mean when they speak of evolution, where (for example) a
land-bound lizard turns into a flying bird. That's called "macro-evolution."
One does not lead into the other. For evolution to make sense we have to
have a lot better explanations for so-called "macro-evolution" then we
currently have.

I won't be holding my breath.

At least evolution doesn't create a god who stacks the deck, creates
original sin, necessitating a redeemer somewhere down the line. Talk about
guilt trips.

Yet you don't point out the absurdity of his "then the" argument. An
argument worthy of -highhorse. Totally made-up and false. Just like
his earlier "it would necessitate" claim.

It's just one thing like that after another, and I lose patience with
it.

Just because the knowledge of "physics, chemistry, genetics and the
rest" that we have today didn't exist, doesn't mean that science
couldn't be done. They had lots of things figured-out.

If the situation gets desperate, a Raspberry Pi, or similar, will do
the essentials. The latest one has a 2.4 GHz quad-core and 8 GB ram.
