Fortunately for me, I can use a personal computer and don't have to worry
about what corporations choose to do. I've recently bought four thin clients
(a Wyse 5060 and three Wyse 5070s) and turned them into personal Linux
computers, freeing them from the drudgery of being corporate drones. :) They
work pretty well with Linux Mint Xfce installations.

I certainly have zero desire to use a Google Chromebook (drone) as my
personal computer.

You must not go anywhere where you need directions on the fly, Google
Maps is invaluable then, because you didn't know to plan it ahead of
time, it comes up spontaneously, and voila, your phone gives you exact
directions.

I don't know if you'd call it a killer app but for me it's 2FA. I do use
the step and geocaching apps.
