I've never had to deal with Nvidia so that hasn't been a problem. Over the
years I've only had one installation that was fragile. I'd installed
Ubuntu, decided Gnome sucked, and added the KDE DE. It wasn't exactly
buggy but it had a lot of quirks.

Other than that I missed the transition to Leap with my OpenSUSE box so
that one got a clean Fedora installation. I'd been down on RH since the
2000 Red Hat Linux (not RHEL) fiasco.

I try different distros out of curiosity not necessity. Not counting WSL
instances I'm now running Debian, Ubuntu, Lubuntu, Fedora, and Q4OS on
different boxes. Other than the Q4OS on a very old netbook I use them
interchangeably.

Nowadays, openSUSE Leap 15.6 is one of the WSL options, but after seeing

Playing video is the least of my worries. I don't even know if I have
that codec.

Lol, well, I disagree with being so loudly against backward people,
but that doesn't make them not backward.

Dobbs rewrites this, it is invalid precedent. States are
liable for denying needed abortions, e.g. TX.

Yup, the dawning of the (all-too-brief) era of the Linux-based “netbooks”.
Microsoft was about to introduce Vista, which was years overdue and a
resource hog. Nicholas Negroponte was promoting his (Linux-based) “One
Laptop Per Child” project, to make cheap, easily-maintained machines (with
solid-state storage only, no hard drive) that could be sold in Third-World
countries and used as a learning tool by children where the electricity
supply and other infrastructure were not good.

I remember a Microsoft guy saying to our Linux user group, what was the
big deal about the increased resource usage for Vista, given that the
hardware powerful enough to run it was becoming commonplace anyway?

Meanwhile, a lot of those OLPC machines were being bought by first-world
customers who were attracted by the appeal of their simplicity. So
Negroponte’s foundation instituted a “buy two and give away one” policy to
take advantage of this to fund his donation campaign.

And also meanwhile, various PC vendors were noticing the appeal of a
small, modestly-specced and priced machine like the OLPC, and so, inspired
by that, they created the “netbook”.

Given that Microsoft was phasing out XP, there was no choice but to run
Linux on these. Vista was just too heavy. So suddenly Microsoft reversed
course on killing off XP.

There was one slight problem: XP was ill-suited to running off an SSD.
This is because it had to have a swap file, while Linux could be
configured to run without. And that continual writing to a swap file
shortened the life of the SSD. And so the “netbook” concept did get ever
so slightly bloated to accommodate XP, with a hard drive replacing the
original SSD concept.

Was that KDE 4.0? That was the “developer preview” that was explicitly
announced to be lacking in features and testing and generally unfit for
end users, yet many people did install it, try to rely on it and complain
about it.

I've tried a number of distributions over the years and I think that a
good chunk of them don't even exist anymore. Nobody ever seems to talk
about Sabayon so I'll just assume it's dead.

.... Basically about 3000 apps.

Of course, I put a lot of sheet in /home and /opt (google chrome and a buncha
data):

/dev/sda2 44G 35G 6.7G 85% /home
/dev/sda4 119G 87G 26G 78% /opt

That the Ubuntu box. On Arch, I got lazy and put it all here:

/dev/nvme0n1p3 230G 119G 99G 55% /

Maybe I should've used LVM. Oh well.

They call us homophobic in the same way that people who know they would
lose a fight would call whoever they're challenging a chicken. They want
to discredit their enemies by calling them cowards, even though they
fully know that they wouldn't be able to handle them if any physical
conflict were to break out. They merely hope that the pre-emptive attack
will prevent the inevitable.

I'm neither "homophobic" or "transphobic" because nobody in their right
mind would be afraid of an underweight sissy like Joel Crump or Chris
Ahlstrom. However, I put those words in quotes because I don't believe
that they are used correctly considering the meaning of the prefixes.
Nobody here is scared of the same or scared of across. If anything, the
mere use of the terms "homophobic" and "transphobic" highlights that the
person using them has no respect for the Latin language.

I'll take a further step and say that anyone who uses the term
"Islamophobic" is completely retarded. Since Latin was created way
before Islam was and "Islamo" doesn't exist in their lexicon, it can't
work as a word.

The same way you can't cut off someone's dick and say that they're a
woman, you can't stick constructs from two different languages together
and create a new term. Would a mathematical equation like 1 + green -
purple = 0 make any sense? No? Then these terms don't either. Those
labels would be the same as calling someone jugamazoo.

Personally I don't care what these people do in private. So long as it's not
with children. (Naked men in parades where children are present is perverted
and indecent.) Since when do people make their perverted sexual preferences
their "calling card?" Do normal, heterosexuals go around constantly telling
people they're attracted to people of the opposite sex? Do they have to have
a "heterosexual month?"

This is more about an agenda than a lifestyle. The Woke morons aren't
pushing for the "right" to have perverted sex (no one is stopping them),
they're trying to destroy Christian culture (pretty much done) and
