I recently read a book (from the library, forgot the title) about how our
habits etc. that we needed in prehistoric times are harmful today. One
example: over-eating.

I simply will NOT eat non-all beef hot dogs. I don't know what they're made
of, but what they pass off as "regular" hot dogs taste like crap. I realize
that even the "all-beef" ones are nothing special, but at least they have
some flavor and they will brown in the frying pan. The non-beef ones just
burn.

At WinCo you can get a package of the non-beef hot dogs for 99 cents.
Unfortunately I don't think they come with stomach pumps.

When I was a kid, the first non-all beef hot dogs were made with mutton. I
still remember that hideous taste from the ONE time we bought them.

We're getting a local Grocery Outlet store (that will open on Thursday) a
couple blocks away. Apparently they sell natural, grass fed beef fairly
cheaply. Looking forward to checking them out.

My steaks tend to be one step away from raw. Even if i grill pork
tenderloin it isn't cooked to death. Pork shoulder needs long, slow
cooking to render the lard.

That's close to how I make my pork. I buy a couple big racks of baby
back ribs and slow bake them for four hours (in a gas oven, of
course). Delicious and reasonably priced.

Costco has USDA Prime steak for around $24 a pound. Still-good USDA
choice for less, of course.

Yeah, but I'm trying to avoid meats preserved with Nitrates. I was
pissed when my favorite brand, Ballpark, stopped offering Nitrate-free
dogs a while back.

I have a little hobby where when a drug commercial airs I look up the cost of
said drug.
While some are reasonable, others are absolutely insanely priced.
And these are not oddball type, little used drugs, but mainstream ones being
marketed to the population.
The entire healthcare system is in need of a complete overhaul.
If anything good can be said of the 10's of millions of illegal migrants
allowed to enter the country, it just might force the system to change because
it will surely collapse under the load. Couple that with the boomers aging and
it's even worse.

Same here.

I get my meat and fish from Good Chop after trying Omaha Steaks, Factor and a
couple of others.
The sources of the product is in general a lot better than the standard
supermarket food and the price isn't much different with specials.
I do tend to eat more seafood than meat though.
Go low carb and you will never look back,

I try to avoid them. I do use kielbasa in Jägerkohl but I try to find the
best all beef type I can rather than mystery meat.

I bought some filet mignon at CostCo this summer and I think it was close
to that. That adternoon a co-worker had been talking about his trip to
Vegas and the $40 hamburgers. I figured $45 for four filets was a bargain.

I seldom bring my readers when I go to CostCo. Throwing stuff into the
cart without reading the fine print is much more restful.

In a restaurant, I would agree.

IIRC in the grocery store they are only about $4 a pound.

Dobbs rewrites this, it is invalid precedent. States are
liable for denying needed abortions, e.g. TX.

I don't know why but my mother would make something like that on New Years
Day. Tasty but about 50% bone. I eat them if they're attached to a
rotisserie chicken but I never saw the point of wings either.

I like Ochsenschwanzsuppe but it falls in the same category. I can't bring
myself to pay what they ask for something that's mostly bone. Lamb shanks
are another one.
