Wow, this is only the thirtieth time you complain about the same
problem. This is clearly a much worse problem than Microsoft saving
screenshots of everything you're doing every few seconds for three
months! They won't sell that data, they promise!

Bugs are hard to find in Linux, so DuFuS has to reuse them over and over and
over... and over, and over, and over.

If Thunar really has a problem, use a different file manager. Non-problem
solved. (Not that I, personally, have ever had any problem with Thunar, I
use when I'm using Xfce.)

And it's no surprise that DFS is puzzled by symlinks.

To be fair, I've faced the same issue as DFS. However, it only
happened to me in XFCE. XFCE is admittedly clunky in certain respects,
but it works rather well anyway.

Which folder is non-existent?

I'm sure the "[" does exist. I've created folders like that or "?"
by fat-fingering.

They don't call him DooFuS for nothing.

Actually, I retract that for now. The "[" file is actually an ELF binary,
presumably duplicating the functionality of "test".

And /usr/bin/X11/X11/... is just a soft link to ".".

So Doof is taking advantage of a quirk in the file system to "denounce"
a "GUI".

This behavior, I verified using bash.

I first noticed it in 2011 in Nautilus, and 13 years later it's still
happening in thunar.

Your previous response to one of my problem reports about this issue
was: "Crapware."

Windows does that? JHC. I wasn't aware. I knew Windows sent ALL your
data and activity back to MS because SMelzzzzz told me so, and Linux
idiots always tell the truth about Windows and MS.

But screenshots? That's very worrisome. How long have they been doing
that? Where are the screenshots saved? What's the name of the
app/process? Can it be turned off?

> They won't sell that data, they promise!

The experienced FOSS/Linux developer who recently finagled his way into
a position of trust then tried to add a backdoor into the Linux xz
utility that if successful would've allowed him unfettered, remote
access to your computer is also trustworthy.

Note: 3 days ago you said "I'm done reading your shite."

While we're having a spat, are you OK if I talk to other kooks?

It is indeed crap for doing such a thing. However, the fact remains:
you've complained about this in the past. Unless you fix it yourself
and want some praise, there is no point mentioning it. Some of us
simply gave up on XFCE as a result of such stupidity.

You might want to take a look at this:
<https://www.yahoo.com/tech/windows-ai-feature-takes-screenshots-011309201.html>
Say what you will about Linux, and it would be fair to see that it is
not as polished as Linux, but it won't pull this kind of stuff.

They claim that it would be limited to Edge, but they also claimed
that they would never sell our data, and that turned out to be a lie.
They also claim that they won't screenshot InPrivate windows. I doubt
Microsoft would put limits on such technology though, especially since
we _know_ that they are part of PRISM.

I am done reading your political shite. You clearly believe everything
the media tells you today, even if it contradicts what they told you
yesterday. I find your shite about Linux hilarious though. In my
experience, I mostly agree with your assessments.

Only if you buy a "Copilot + PC" laptop, e.g. the surface Pro.
I, for one, welcome our new overlords.

It's _always_ been my dream that the FBI, the ATF, the IRS, Joe Biden, etc.
could observe what was on my screen every minute...
...day after day, week after week, year after year.

This way, I'll be properly punished for my thought crimes.

Weird. I thought [ and test were implemented as shell builtins..

If I had to guess, I'd say that would be a compatibility feature, like
/bin -> /usr/bin. Though on my computer its /usr/bin/X11 that's linked
back to the bin folder.

I believe so, for bash.

But both can be used by other shells. The files /usr/bin/test and /usr/bin/[ are
different sizes, but doing "man \[" brings up test(1).

Good to know, I suppose.

That made me curious enough to dig. On MacOS, /bin/[ and /bin/test are
hardlinked together.

"dpkg-query" says that both [ and test are provided by coreutils, but
coreutils has a src/test.c, and src/lbracket.c for the other program.
src/lbracket.c is very simple:

#define LBRACKET 1 #include "test.c"

The reason for the difference seems to be that GNU wanted to have --help
and --version options, but POSIX only allows [ to print anything in
response to those options, while "test" has to exit silently.

MacOS also handles these arguments differently depending on if it's
/bin/[ or /bin/test, with [ printing an error message (and no help)
instead of returning silently.
