You should prove that to cola.

* no virtual machines - install only to bare metal

* you could use 8 GPT-formatted drives of 4TB each
125 partitions per drive
25GB per partition
one distro per partition of course
about $100 per 7200RPM drive

* grub/2 says there's no limit to the number of entries.

* allocate avg 1 hour per distro to download/burn to USB/boot/install

The whole project should cost less than $1000, and take you about 4
months working 8 hrs per day.

How does calling calling people who name their branches "master" and
"slave" "slaveowners" factor into the "cooperating not competing,"
Lawrence? How does banning them from aiding in development because they
are conservatives factor into the cooperation?

What we are learning is that going forward, Linux development will be
done be leftists who look between their legs and can't figure out what
gender they are, nigger and pajeets. Somehow, this is supposed to result
in robust, quality software. No thanks.

If a pajeet develops my software, I want him to have a university
education from a reputable school.

Read between the lines, man, the installer hung like that because they
wanted me to just keep my existing installation, the in-place upgrade
failing to work was locking me into keeping 21.x. I had no way to get
to 22 without a clean install, which they don't want to support, even
though I *have* donated money to them. So, that tells me to look
elsewhere, and I did. openSUSE isn't perfect, but I don't dislike it.

I don't know how both of you can find 1000 distros.

So first, how do you count the distros? For example, if you consider ubuntu,
kubuntu and lubuntu as three distinct distros, that's because you are a
Windows fanboy. But it's only 1 distro with different default settings.
You just have to install one of them with the three WM to see that. And
with Ubuntu, you have a lot of flavours looking like different distros,
but they are not.

all, it would be only a waste of time. Except for Alpine which is not
using glibc, all other distro have only two differences:
- the init system,

Nope. It would be way more longer. If he does that, he'll test
unimportant things. Like the default Window Manager, which is useless
because he could test as many Window Manager as he want with is current
distro more efficiently.

The installing part is more or less difficult depending on the distros.
But it's not important. Once you distro is installed you keep it that
way for years. So, the only thing important in the install part is to
know if it's too difficult for someone when he's a beginner.

As I said the real differences are:
- the init system, so it takes time to understand it and see which one
you prefer.
- the package manager, so it takes time to see how well the upgrades or
managed. To see if you need to have up to date softwares or not and
things like that.

Still, Linux makes it so much easier than any other platform you can name.
Even the BSDs, with their small handful of variants, are far more
balkanized than the Linux world is.

Well, when it comes to the basics, I agree. It's the kind of
environment where you have interoperability and mutual support. But
in terms of moment to moment experience, the choice of distro matters.

The real big difference between them is snap. Which is a package manager.
You can adapt one to act like the other. You can change some config to
switch from ubuntu to debian.
