Except that the evidence you've provided shows the exact opposite: no
credible national cost metric has reported that gas has gone up by 2x,
nor groceries either.

How do you even trust your local grocery store to be truthful in
pricing? After all, they could be jacking up prices on your community
to increase their own profits above inflation .. or even just targeting
higher prices at a few customers they don't particularly like (eg.
you!): you don't have access to their accounting books, so on what
basis do you have to blindly trust them?

No, what you have is nothing more than a case of confirmation bias.

Its similar to have you have a case of recency bias when it comes to
your inadequately done retirement budget (lack of financial) plan.
