Alas making any kind of self-sustaining colonies of
adequate size off-planet ... MAY take 100+ years even
without bureaucrats and budgets and such.

the sheer expense of getting enough stuff there,
including lots of spare parts, and all the other

self-dependence - Earth gets melted - twice as hard.

of the radiation problem. Might make people kinda nuts

i think those underground isolated colonies are a real thing,
