Hennepin County Prosecutors charged two sisters for their roles in the fatal hit-and-run crash that took the life of Andre Steward.

“God-fearing man, always had his bible everywhere he went,” said the victim’s sister, Leah Anderson.

Steward was a grandfather and father who loved God, golf, and basketball, according to his family.

At the end of August, arrest warrants were issued for the driver, 25-year-old Victoria N. Yorahee of Mesa, Arizona, and her sister, 18-year-old Tianna R. Yorahee of Minneapolis.

Hennepin County Court documents said the victim’s family reported to authorities that the driver. “…has been harassing…” their family “by phone and social media… saying she will never be caught.”

“I made a post on Facebook that went viral about my dad getting killed,” said Clarissa Riley, the victim’s daughter.

Riley said afterward, several family members started receiving information about the crash from a variety of people.

Back on the night of July 29th, a church’s security camera captured Steward, 52, riding his motorized scooter home when he was struck by an SUV at Fremont and 22nd Avenue North in Minneapolis. According to police, the SUV was going about 80 miles an hour before the crash on the city street.

Witnesses told police that several women got out of the SUV, and the driver pulled off the rear license plate before running away.

“To me, that was so, not human, no morals, no respect, just totally cold,” said Anderson.

Steward was injured and trapped under the SUV. He later died days later at the hospital from his injuries. One of the women charged, Victoria Yorahee is now listed in a Dallas, Texas jail roster being held for criminal vehicular homicide on a Hennepin County warrant.

The second suspect, Tianna Yorahee, has an active arrest warrant for “aiding an offender.”

They were allegedly traveling at around 80 mph on a residential street when they struck 52-year-old Andre Stewart.

Arrest warrants have been issued for two sisters who allegedly fled to Las Vegas after causing a fatal hit-and-run in Minneapolis in July.

Victoria Nevada Yorahee, 25, and Tianna Renee Yorahee, 18, both of Arizona, are on the run in connection with the death of 52-year-old Andre Stewart on July 29.

Stewart was on a motorized scooter at Fremont Avenue North and 22nd Avenue North when he was struck by a Nissan Pathfinder that was allegedly traveling at around 80 mph on a residential street.

Stewart died from his injuries. Victoria, who was allegedly the driver, has been charged with two counts of criminal vehicular homicide, and Tianna is charged with aiding and abetting criminal vehicular homicide.

The complaint says that when officers arrived at the scene around 9:25 p.m., they saw the car without license plates stopped a half block south of the intersection on Fremont Avenue North.

The SUV's hood was open and flipped back onto the windshield. Both front doors were open, and the airbags were deployed. The front end of the Nissan SUV was lifted off the ground and resting on top of the motorized scooter.

Stewart was lying in the road with multiple injuries and covered in blood. He was taken to North Memorial Hospital by ambulance, but died on August 2.

Officers were able to confirm the car belonged to Victoria after recovering a phone and paperwork inside the crashed SUV.

Witnesses at the scene saw Victoria and Tianna exit the SUV with another woman who has not been identified. They saw the women remove the rear license plate and run away, as well as throwing away several liquor bottles into some nearby bushes, which witnesses showed officers later.

A text conversation earlier that same day between Victoria and Tianna showed that Victoria texted about wanting to “hit the wood,” a slang term for smoking marijuana. A video taken that same day was taken from the driver’s seat of the Nissan SUV, looking out of the front windshield.

A couple of weeks after the accident, Stewart's adult daughter told officers she had information about Victoria being the driver and that she fled with her sister to Las Vegas.

According to the complaint, the daughter said Victoria was harassing her by phone and social media, saying she would never be caught and that she would get pregnant to avoid going to prison.

Since the crash, Stewart's daughter has been actively trying to get justice for her father on Facebook.

Another witness from Las Vegas had contacted the Stewart family after meeting the two sisters, who were introduced to him by a business partner because the sisters wanted help.

He met the sisters at a restaurant in Las Vegas, where Victoria allegedly admitted to driving drunk and striking Stewart before fleeing the scene and buying a ticket to Las Vegas with her sister.

She then showed this witness some Facebook posts from the victim's family about the incident, bragging about how she reported the post and got it taken down.

He was bothered by both their admissions and lack of remorse. When he told Victoria to call the police, she refused.

A GoFundMe was created in Stewart's honor by his family to raise money for his funeral expenses.

"Our dad was a loving and caring person who touched the lives of many. He always put others first and was a pillar of strength for our family," the GoFundMe reads. "We want to give him the memorial he deserves, to honor his memory and say our last goodbyes."

The sisters' whereabouts are currently unknown.

Minneapolis, Minn., has racked up five murders in just five days, all of them have been shootings. Four of them in south Minneapolis and the other in downtown.

The first occurred just before midnight on Friday, Aug. 30 at 29th and Park Ave S (near E Lake St), where a total of three people were shot. One died at the scene, and two others showed up at Abbott Hospital and HCMC. The decedent hasn’t been officially identified yet.

The second shooting murder occurred on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 29th and Grand Ave S (near W Lake St), just before 11 p.m. A second person was also shot and injured in the incident. The decedent has been identified as Kadar Niman Jibril, 27, of Corcoran, MN.

The third shooting murder occurred on Monday, Sept. 2 about 3:10 a.m. at 13th and E Lake St. The decedent has been identified as Rodney Bernard Cooper, 52, of Brooklyn Park.

The fourth shooting murder occurred on Tuesday, Sept. 3 just before 7 p.m. near E 19th St and 1st Ave. S. Over two dozen shell casings were found at the scene. The decedent has been identified as De’Jaun Marquise Michael Hall, 24, of Minneapolis. Just over 24 hours later, two more people were shot and injured near this location at E Franklin and Nicollet, where about 60 shots were reportedly heard by multiple 911 callers (top picture). Police found multiple calibers of casings at the site, including 9mm, 10mm, rifle and shotgun, and a nearby resident said it sounded like automatic gunfire.

The fifth shooting murder occurred just before midnight Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 15th and Portland Ave in downtown Minneapolis. The decedent has not been officially identified yet.

During that time, there have also been numerous other shootings that didn’t result in death. The Minneapolis Crime Dashboard lists 14 shootings between Aug. 30 and Sept 4 (this figure may not be complete through the date shown, based on prior observations of the dashboard).

The dashboard also shows there were 38 Shotspotter activations in Minneapolis during that time and 57 other reports of shots heard. Shotspotter detection only exists in areas of north Minneapolis and part of south Minneapolis (orange dots on the map below). The map below shows the last seven days of gunfire activity (again, the map may not be complete through today).

An arrest has been made in last December’s double shooting murder at a Dinkytown smoke shop, and charges allege both the shooter and the deceased parties had rival gang ties.

Maleek Jabril Conley, 25, of south Minneapolis, Minn., was taken into custody late Monday by the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and is currently being held on $2 million bail.

Conley is charged with two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder in the Dec. 3, 2023 shooting adjacent to the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus.

Charges filed in Hennepin County District Court describe that a verbal and physical altercation began inside the shop located at 403 14th Avenue Southeast after 2 a.m. involving a group of males.

Store employees attempted to break up the fight, but Conley entered the store as the altercation was happening and began firing shots directly at the heads of two males who were both shot multiple times in their heads and necks.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner determined that one of the decedents was shot ten times in the head and neck, and the other was shot four times in the head, shoulder, upper right arm, and abdomen.

Another person who was a store employee was shot in the buttocks, and a fourth person was shot at twice, but the bullets missed and he was not injured.

During the gunfire, a store employee pressed a panic button which locked the gunman and the others in the store. When the gunman realized that he was locked inside the store, he shot the glass out of the door and crawled out of the door’s metal frame. He was followed by four other males.

The complaint states that Conley fled the store with a co-defendant named in the complaint as Taynard Godsey and three other males identified with only initials, one of whom police identified as Conley’s brother. The complaint says that all five are known associates of a south Minneapolis gang known as the “Crazi Boyz.”

The two decedents were known to be associates of the Lowz criminal street gang in north Minneapolis and it’s believed that the murders stem from gang-related rivalries, the complaint said.

The stolen Kia that Conley and the four others fled in following the shooting was later found by police at Godsey’s apartment residence on the 2400 block of Elliot Avenue South. Video surveillance obtained by police showed all five subjects exit the vehicle and enter the building within 15 minutes of the shooting. A search warrant was eventually executed on the apartment after the defendants were gone, and clothing matching that worn by Conley during the shooting was found on site.

Investigators were able to link fingerprint forensic evidence left behind at the store to Conley. Investigators also recovered 9mm casings from the shooting scene and determined that at least 24 rounds had been fired inside the store.

Court records show Conley made his first court appearance on the charges Tuesday afternoon (today) and applied for a public defender.

Co-defendant Godsey does not appear to be in local custody, and the complaint against Conley doesn’t reference what charges Godsey or the other three subjects may face.

A 19-year-old has received a 30-year prison sentence for carrying out the killing of a young man at the Mall of America in 2022.

TaeShawn Adams-Wright previously pleaded guilty to one count of 2nd-degree murder in the fatal shooting Johntae Hudson, 19, of St. Paul, inside the mall's Nordstrom department store on Dec. 23, 2022.

Adams-Wright is expected to serve around 19½ years in prison due to time already served.

Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said in a statement Thursday the sentence length was "appropriate to sufficiently protect public safety."

“My thoughts today are with the victims’ loved ones as they try to heal from such a devastating loss. Mr. Adams-Wright engaged in gun violence that endangered the lives of countless people as they enjoyed their day at the Mall of America. A long prison sentence is appropriate to sufficiently protect public safety," she said.

Longstreet was 17 years old at the time of the shooting. After the shooting, Longstreet fled the state with his mother and was later arrested in Georgia. Moriarty at the time filed a motion to certify him as an adult in the case.

According to the criminal complaints, holiday shoppers and employees at the store were seen on surveillance footage ducking for cover. One woman, who fell to the ground and took cover with her daughter during the shooting, was grazed by a bullet.

“Defendant waived trial by jury, withdrew plea of not guilty and entered a plea of guilty to the charge of Count 2 Rape 2nd Degree – Child less than sixteen years of age and more than twelve years of age,” the court document said.

Jones was also facing a charge of first-degree rape, which will no longer be prosecuted following the guilty plea, documents said.

Jones will serve five years in a jail-like facility, followed by five years of formal probation, News 5 has learned.

A homeless man who should have been in prison on a prior conviction is now charged with nearly killing a Coon Rapids woman by slitting her throat as she showered.

Rickey Donnel Webster, 27, has been charged with first-, second- and fourth-degree assault in Anoka County Court following the Wednesday attack.

Charges say Coon Rapids, Minn., police responded Wednesday on a report of an assault. The 911 caller said a woman had shown up at his door with a large cut to her neck and bleeding profusely.

Police arrived to find the victim who appeared to be in shock from blood loss. The victim was able to tell police that a man named “Rickey” had entered her bathroom while she was in the shower and cut her neck with a large knife.

The victim was rushed to the hospital where she was intubated and underwent emergency surgery. The charging document says that the extent of the victim’s injury created “a high probability of death.”

The officer was able to locate Webster nearby. Charges say Webster was acting very erratically and was requesting medical attention. Webster was brought to the hospital where he was restrained. While the officer was restraining him, Webster thrashed his head and bit the officer’s left ring finger, causing the nail to crack.

Webster, who has no permanent address, according to the jail booking record, should have been in prison at the time of the assault.

Webster was convicted last November on a felony drug count in Scott County and was sentenced to 17 months in prison. However, Judge Caroline H. Lennon stayed the prison sentence and instead placed Webster on probation for three years.

Webster has a history of felony convictions including third-degree burglary (was converted to a misdemeanor), criminal vehicular operation involving substantial bodily harm while a controlled substance [is present in the body], and auto theft. Other convictions include gross misdemeanors on DWI and theft, and misdemeanor obstructing the legal process.

Webster made his first court appearance on the new charge on Friday and was granted a public defender. Webster remains in custody on $600,000 bail.

A Coon Rapids man, Luis Joaquin Maceo Santos, 23, is being charged with two counts of felony criminal sexual conduct stemming from an event taking place in Pine City on September 11.

According to the criminal complaint:

The Pine County Sheriff’s Office received a call on September 11 from a person claiming that her friend was being sexually assulted. A group of friends had been at a local bar in Pine City when the group decided to go to a Pine City residence.

When deputies arrived, they spoke to the victim who stated that after the bar closed they returned to the home Allegedly around 4 a.m., the victim went to the basement to sleep where Santos was.

According to the complaint, the victim went to sleep on the bed while Santos was on a couch. Allegedly the victim was woken approximately around 5:20 a.m. to Santos engaging in sexual intercourse with the victim. The victim states she immediately began to scream and fight Santos to get away.

According to the criminal complaint, the occupant of the residence heard the victim screaming and immediately went downstairs to see Santos pulling his pants up. The occupant of the residence kicked Santos out of the home and called the police.

At about the same time, another person, who had also been asleep upstairs, was awoken by screams described as “blood curdling” and heard the victim yelling “get off me” repeatedly. The individual who heard the screams went downstairs and said they saw Santos with his pants off, according to the complaint. Allegedly Santos stated he thought the victim was awake. A third person in the home, went downstairs after hearing screaming and found the victim curled up on the bed and screaming with her pants down.

Allegedly Santos repeated “I’m sorry” as he put his clothes back on. Santos communicated several times via social media to a resident at the Pine City home following the assault after he left requesting that resident, whom he knew prior to the incident, to tell the victim he is sorry.

Santos was located in Coon Rapids on September 13 and placed under arrest. Santos has been charged with one felony count of third degree criminal sexual conduct, one felony count of fifth degree sexual conduct. If convicted, Santos faces a maximum of 15 years in prison and/or $30,000 for the first charge and a maximum of 2 years in prison and/or $10,000 for the second charge.

The Bloomington man who fatally shot a 15-year-old girl near Lake of the Isles last year has been sentenced to 12-and-a-half years in prison.

Antonio Brooks Jr., 20, pleaded guilty on Sept. 6 to the 2nd-degree unintentional murder of Ka’Maih Johnson near the intersection of Girard Avenue S. and 25th St. W. in July 2023. He was sentenced on Friday to 150 months in prison.

"My thoughts are with Ka’Maih’s family," Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said.

"She should still be with her family. Instead, the community has lost another young person to gun violence. Mr. Brooks will be held accountable for his actions, but we must do more at every level to reduce the terrible impact of gun violence in our communities."

According to the criminal complaint, one of Johnson's friends told police they were driving around the area with three boys that night when Brooks Jr. texted her, and they agreed to meet up.

Johnson's friend told investigators they were "laughing, joking and making videos with [Brooks Jr.] when [he] stated. 'I'm going to shoot you all up,'" the complaint states.

The friend said Brooks Jr. had made similar statements in the past, but he never followed through. However, when speaking with police, In an interview, she said Brooks Jr. stated: "You think I'm playing? I'm gonna shoot this [b**ch] up."

She told police that she and Johnson got out of the SUV that Brooks Jr. had arrived in and headed back to the original car they came in. Moments later, the shot was fired.

When police arrived at the scene, they found Johnson lying in the street of 25 1/2 Street and Girard Avenue South, with a gunshot wound to her chest. She was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS responders.

Investigators spoke to four witnesses, who all said they heard the gunshot, and at least two witnesses saw Brooks Jr. raise the gun.

According to the complaint, one witness told police he saw Johnson "laughing and running away from [Brooks Jr.]" when he heard the gunshot, charges state.

Another witness told police that Johnson was hanging out of an open window in the back of the car when the shot was fired, and both vehicles sped off. She said she didn't know Johnson had been shot and was left behind at the scene, prompting her to ask Brooks Jr. to pick her up.

Brooks Jr. said he would, but that he needed to drop off the gun first.

However, the boys the witness had initially arrived with picked her up later and told her Johnson had been shot and taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center.

The complaint states that the witness contacted Brooks Jr., who allegedly "acknowledged his involvement in the shooting and apologized." He allegedly deactivated his Facebook account and blocked the witness' cell phone number and social media accounts.

A warrant for his arrest was issued on August 10, 2023, and he was arrested a day later.
