A U.S. Grand Jury has indicted a Twin Cities volleyball coach on federal charges that accuse him of sexually assaulting multiple children over a 10-year period.

Dorian Christopher Barrs, 32, of Minnetonka, has been charged with the production and receipt of child pornography and coercing minors to engage in sex over a period between October 2014 and March 2024.

According to court documents, Barrs used Snapchat, text messaging, and other social media platforms to prey on five young girls aged between 15 and 17.

As a volleyball coach, Barr used his position to assault these girls and convinced them to send him sexually explicit material.

Furthermore, Barrs produced child porn material in which he is shown having sex with minors. The earliest account of this behavior occurred in January 2021.

All the victims were engaged by Barrs when he was working as a coach at Maple Grove High School, as well as the Minnesota Select and Minnesota Crossfire club teams. A member of Minnesota Select told the Star Tribune that Barrs was suspended as soon as they became aware of the allegations.

Efforts to identify more victims are still ongoing and some have come forward to say they were contacted by Barrs, including one who was as young as 13 when he allegedly messaged her.

The indictment charges Barrs with four counts of production of child pornography, one count of receipt of child pornography, and four counts of coercion and enticement of a minor.

Barrs made his initial appearance yesterday in U.S. District Court before Magistrate Judge John F. Docherty.
