WYOMING, MN - A Republican lawmaker in Minnesota recently told Fox News
Digital that Gov. Walz is "nowhere close" to being a moderate and outlined
examples of why he believes that his agenda has been so "heinous" that
it's difficult to even explain it to voters.

"I mean there must be a new word for �center� because he's nowhere close,"
Minnesota Republican State Senator Mark Koran told Fox News Digital. "The
most radical policies that we have, as a conservative Republican in
Minnesota, the most difficult process we have is trying to describe the
bills that were passed in the last few years. The agenda is so heinous,
removing parental rights, the transgender ideology which puts our children
in harm�s way. He signed every one of those bills and to me, most don�t
believe it because it is so radical when we try to educate them."

Koran told Fox News Digital that Republicans were able to work with Walz�s
predecessor, Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton, even if they disagreed on issues
but Walz operates in a "very different environment" due to proxy voting
and the "great power" Democrats have in Minnesota where the Minnesota
Democratic�Farmer�Labor Party (DFL) controls the statehouse.

"They have a trifecta which gives you great power, but they don't have a
mandate," Koran said. "They only have the majority in the House, in the
Senate in Minnesota by less than 1820 votes�they don�t have a mandate for
a radical political agenda and so, to me, the most functional element,
based on Governor Walz's words of preserving democracy is he supports
policies and procedures that rip out the very foundation of our system of
governance."

"He supported and signed every single bill that came through the
legislature this year where they changed the simple rules and added proxy

count votes and what that does is it robs full representation for all
voters in Minnesota and actually granted themselves ultimate power and the
legislative agenda to operate for which the voters haven�t granted them."

Koran told Fox News Digital that Walz�s track record as governor on a
variety of key issues raise serious questions about his ability to
effectively serve as vice president. Koran specifically took issue with
the way Walz reacted to the rioting in Minneapolis after the death of
George Floyd in 2020.

"Him being so close and being a member of the National Guard, they should
have been in as soon as the civil unrest, which they knew was going to
happen, they should have been on call and should have been ready and
raring to go," Koran said. "There should have been no hesitancy."

"They decided to let a precinct go, to let this civil unrest go on for
many days, and I think if you look back in your research, when they
finally did call out the guard, the National Guard leadership basically
had to ask, �what�s the actual mission?�" Koran continued.

They were given no direction and that�s very difficult for people to
understand. I grew up in St. Paul and the fires reached within a half a
block or five houses from where I raised my kids," he added. "St. Paul
fared a little better only because their police acted differently than
they were allowed to act in Minneapolis but he�s the leader of the state,
he should have taken decisive action and he didn�t."

Koran also took issue with Walz�s leadership on COVID, where he has faced
vocal criticism from Republicans for his stringent crackdowns including
promoting a tip line for neighbors to "snitch" on each other for COVID
lockdown infractions.

"If you watched Minnesota they made up this chart and dials and political
theater around what the issue was," Koran said about the early days of
COVID. "For the first two weeks we got together, we were concerned we were
trying to figure out what is this really? Beyond the two weeks, none of
the data. They wouldn�t share the data with us. As a legislator, I
represent 85,000 people. They wouldn�t share the data."

"The data, as we know today, didn't match any of the actual outcomes to
justify the actions and keeping people locked up in their homes in

sized businesses, closed their churches and basically robbed us of the
civil rights that we have within Minnesota. He failed horribly at it."

When asked if there�s one thing voters nationwide should know about Walz
if they are being introduced to him now for the first time, Koran said
that the governor is "extraordinarily well polished at saying many words
and saying nothing at all at the same time."

"He's already proven he's agreed with the most radical progressive agenda
that exists around the world," Koran said.

"When you look at the political agenda and the policies they passed, he is
not what's good for Minnesota. He's not good for the country. He's already
agreed to throw out the Constitution. Our basic system of governance and
even though the vice president doesn't have a significant defined role,
he's already agreed to be complicit with the most radical agenda that is
anti-American, anti-hardworking legal U.S. citizen, and that's what we
can't have in the White House."

Fox News Digital reached out to the Harris-Walz campaign for comment but
did not receive a response.

PHOENIX –David Michael Hanson, 41, of Phoenix, was arrested on Wednesday
for making online threats against the President and Vice-President.
Hanson was charged by Federal criminal complaint on Tuesday with five
counts of Threats Against the President and Successors to the Presidency
and five counts of Interstate Communication of Threats.

The complaint alleges that in November and December of 2023, while
living in Arizona, Hanson used a social media platform to post threats
to murder the President and Vice President of the United States. On
November 19, 2023, Hanson posted online a series of threatening
statements including one that stated, “#joeAndKamala I’m asking you to
resign on Monday your alternative is death brutally murdered.” After the
U.S. Secret Service spoke to Hanson and warned him that it was a Federal
crime to post such threats, on December 23, 2023, Hanson posted another
series of similar threats aimed at the President and Vice-President.

Each count of Threats Against the President and Successors to the
Presidency carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison, a fine of
up to $250,000, and up to three years of supervised release. Each count
of Interstate Communication of Threats carries a maximum sentence of
five years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and up to three years of
supervised release.

A complaint is simply a method by which a person is charged with
criminal activity and raises no inference of guilt. An individual is
presumed innocent until evidence is presented to a jury that establishes
guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

America�s largest Protestant and second-largest Christian denomination is
being roiled by a sexual abuse scandal that casts a harsh light on one of
the most politically powerful religious groups in the country as well as
renewing a focus on its racist past.

The Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) is a collection of loosely
affiliated
member churches, boasting just under 15 million members, and is dominated
by white members, who are usually deeply socially conservative. The
convention has often been a powerful tool for rightwing organizing in
recent years, especially on issues around abortion.

But the SBC is now so mired in scandal that one recent former top
official
said it faced a �Southern Baptist apocalypse�.

says

The issue at hand is the release by the SBC of a 205-page document naming
hundreds of Baptist leaders and members accused or found guilty of sexual
abuse of children. The list, which includes 700 entries on cases between
2000 and 2019, was released after a bombshell third-party investigation
by
Guidepost Solutions said the convention�s leaders in its executive
committee failed the public and its community by mishandling sexual abuse
cases and mistreating victims and survivors.

SBC leaders Rolland Slade and Willie McLaurin issued a statement saying
the
list �reminds us of the devastation and destruction brought about by
sexual
abuse. Our prayer is that the survivors of these heinous acts find hope
and
healing, and that churches will utilize this list proactively to protect
and care for the most vulnerable among us.�

The initial report was released after a seven-month investigation that
revealed 380 leaders and volunteers in the SBC have faced public
accusations of sexual abuse. It said that the SBC�s general counsel and
spokesman had kept their own private list of abusive ministers and that
leaders of SBC�s executive committee had focused for decades on trying to
protect the SBC from liability for abuse in local churches.

�In service of this goal, survivors and others who reported abuse were
ignored, disbelieved, or met with the constant refrain that the SBC could
take no action due to its polity regarding church autonomy � even if it
meant that convicted molesters continued in ministry with no notice or
warning to their current church or congregation,� investigators wrote.

Among those named was Johnny Hunt, a Georgia-based pastor and former SBC
president, who has been accused of sexually assaulting another pastor�s
wife during a beach vacation in 2010.

Hunt, who resigned last month as senior vice-president of evangelism and
leadership at SBC�s domestic missions agency, has denied he assaulted the
woman but admitted on social media to a �personal sin� and called it �a
brief, but improper encounter�.

Others named were a former SBC vice-president who was credibly accused of
sexually abusing a 14-year-old; a former president who delayed reporting
child sexual abuse allegations out of �heartfelt concern� for the
accused;
and another who failed to report allegations of abuse against young boys.

But the publication of the report and the subsequent list of names has
led
to pushback within the organization � despite the horrific details
contained within it. �I am terrified that we are breaching our
longstanding
position of being a voluntary association of independent churches, when
we
start telling churches that they should do this or do that to protect
children or women,� said Joe Knott, a North Carolina attorney and
longtime
committee member.

But some say that the report about decades of sexual abuse cover-up, is
an
opportunity for the SBC to look more closely at its roots in white
evangelicalism, including how it was founded in 1845 to protect the
institution of slavery.

A study of that inception, White Evangelical Racism, published last year,
studied the roots of the SBC in the south. According to author Anthea
Butler, the SBC used scripture to deny the vote to emancipated Blacks
during Reconstruction and to later side with racist segregationists. In
more recent times the SBC has also taken flak for debating critical race
theory, an academic discipline that studies institutional racism in US
laws
and society.

�The two biggest crises in the SBC are sex abuse and debates over
critical
race theory, and the two are very much related,� said Sara Moslener,
director of the After Purity Project at Central Michigan University. �So
much of white racial identity is about obscuring the reality of the
racist
history of United States and to obscure the issue of sexual assault in
evangelical churches.�

For both to be revealed, Moslener says, would be to undermine the status
quo in the SBC, theologically and nationally, for white evangelicalism.
�Since the report came out, people have been talking about it as an
�apocalypse�, but an apocalypse can mean both destruction and reveal.�

An article in the New Republic published this month went further,
suggesting that the SBC crusade against �critical race theory�, while
obscuring sexual abuse within its own ranks, �is further suggestive that
racial terror is still very much at work within the organization�.

In 2019, the Southern Baptist Convention meeting in Birmingham, Alabama,
moved to resolve that �critical race theory and intersectionality should
only be employed as analytical tools subordinate to Scripture � not as
transcendent ideological frameworks�. The convention further resolved
that
�the gospel of Jesus Christ alone grants the power to change people and
society�.

That statement on race caused several Black pastors to break with the SBC
and triggered high-level meetings about whether the Black evangelical
church has a place in the convention whose leadership had in some cases
come out in support of Donald Trump.

According to Pew Research, Black evangelicals made up about 14% of all
African American Christians, while 85% of Americans who identify as
Southern Baptist are white.

In a subsequent statement, SBC presidents said they recognized the
�reality
of racism on both the personal and systemic or structural level� but
still
see critical race theory as incompatible with Baptist teaching.

The SBC has been tracking right since the 1970s when a backlash to
desegregation � Nixon�s �Southern Strategy� � was hitched on an anti-
abortion sentiment to which the convention had previously been relatively
neutral. That effectively led to the rise of the religious right in the
US
� a phenomenon that still has huge repercussions today especially as
America looks set to lose federally guaranteed abortion rights.

�It just so happened that abortion was the new issue and the one that
worked very effectively to create a voting bloc that was so powerful that
a
white southern evangelical president Jimmy Carter lost to Ronald Reagan
because white evangelicals came to see Reagan as reflecting their values
more than one of their own,� said Moslener.

Carter ultimately left the Baptist church over its refusal to ordain
women
but the issue cemented the relationship between white evangelicals and
the
Republican party.

Even if the SBC deals with its sexual assault problem, Moslener says, and
comes out to say we honor women and will give them equal roles of
authority, �Even if they did that, and we see places where evangelical
feminism is emerging from the shadows, they still haven�t dealt with the
legacy of racism in the church. They�re still only getting to a piece of
it.�

Jarquez Javon Bedford has been indicted on two counts of 1st-degree murder and one count of 2nd-degree murder for the killing of 52-year-old Andrea Cottew on Feb. 6. He was originally charged via a warrant on April 7.

A 28-year-old man has been indicted on 1st-degree murder charges for the death of a Waite Park woman in February.

Jarquez Javon Bedford has been indicted on two counts of 1st-degree murder and one count of 2nd-degree murder for the killing of 52-year-old Andrea Cottew on Feb. 6. He was originally charged via a warrant on April 7.

Cottew was found dead inside her apartment on the 300 block of Park Meadows Drive after police conducted a welfare check just after 9:30 a.m. Her death wasn't ruled a homicide until March 18.

The Midwest Medical Examiner's autopsy revealed that Cottew's cause of death was "exsanguination due to sharp force injury to the neck."

Cottew's obituary says she is survived by her daughter, parents and other family members. Her 21-year-old son passed away in 2014, according to the Star Tribune.

"She enjoyed casino games, playing skip-bo, spending time at the lake with her family, visiting with friends and what she loved most in the world were her two children," the obituary reads.

Cottew was found in the living room of the the apartment with cuts to her neck. Her phone, wallet, apartment keys and key fob were missing but the apartment door was locked.

Officers found blood all throughout the apartment, particularly in the bedroom and living room. A blood-stained kitchen knife was found on the floor next to the bed.

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and identified Bedford, who was reportedly staying with another tenant on the third floor of the building. In the video, Beford can be seen knocking on the outside door of the building moments after Cottew entered the building around 12:12 p.m. on Feb. 5. Cottew is seen letting him inside and talking with him for a they start to walk towards her apartment on the first floor.

The complaint says within an hour, Bedford is seen leaving through the back door of the apartment building with his sweatshirt inside out. He's then seen coming and going "for multiple hours," using Cottew's fob key, records revealed. Cottew wasn't seen on camera again.

Police interviewed tenants on the third floor, who confirmed Bedford was staying with them at the time.

In an interview, Bedford changed his statement "repeatedly," at one point claiming someone he knew told him that they assaulted and robbed Cottew.

A DNA test matched Bedford to the knife found in the bedroom. His DNA was also found on Cottew's purse, a sweatshirt in the bedroom, a cigarette in the bedroom and a marijuana blunt in the living room.

According to court records, Bedford was arrested after fleeing the area and arrested on an outstanding Kansas felony probation violation in relation to a 2018 robbery conviction. He was also charged in an unrelated case in Ramsey County of illegally possessing a gun due to a previous conviction of a violent crime

Beford has been detained at the Ramsey County Jail since Feb 14. Bail has been set at $4 million without conditions and $2 million with conditions. He faces a life sentence if convicted.

The fatal stabbing in the Minneapolis theater district on Saturday night happened after two women got into an argument on Hennepin Avenue.

Shermeika Franklin, 39, has been charged with the 2nd-degree murder of Mesheka Willis, 42, on the 800 block of Hennepin Ave., and will make her first court appearance Thursday.

According to a criminal complaint, Franklin and Willis were seen getting into an argument and were "circling one another for a brief period," with surveillance footage showing Willis suddenly stagger away before falling to the ground.

She had been stabbed in the chest, with police arriving to find several bystanders giving her first aid.

She died at Hennepin County Medical Center just before 10:30 p.m.

Franklin was arrested at a friend's apartment on Hawthorne Avenue, and when quizzed by police said that Willis "was bothering her all day."

She said Willis had "punched her in the chin," and admitted pulling out a knife and stabbing her once in the chest.

After that, she went to a nearby Pizza Hut, where she broke the knife and threw it away.

A man has been indicted on an elevated murder charge for the killing of his ex-girlfriend, Zaria McKeever, in November.

A grand jury returned an indictment against Erick Dewaun Haynes, 22, of Brooklyn Park, on Friday. Court records show he is now charged with two counts of 1st-degree murder.

Haynes was previously charged with 2nd-degree murder and faced up to 40 years in prison. Now that he's been charged with 1st-degree murder, he faces life in prison. Haynes also had his bail increased to $2 million, according to court records.

The development comes after Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison took over the prosecutorial role in April after Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty was criticized for offering plea deals to two teenagers who were involved in the fatal shooting of 23-year-old McKeever.

McKeever was killed at her apartment on the 6300 block of Zane Avenue N. in Brooklyn Park on Nov. 8, 2022.

Haynes, who is McKeever's ex-boyfriend, allegedly provided the gun to two brothers aged 15 and 17, along with instructions to attack McKeever’s new boyfriend.

Instead, McKeever died after being shot multiple times, while her boyfriend fled from a window.

The plea deals were offered to the two teens in exchange for evidence against Haynes, allowing them to serve two-year sentences in a juvenile program rather than being certified as adults

Two other adults — Eriana Dewauna Haynes and Tavion Michael Darnell James — are charged with aiding an offender after the fact in the case.

Ellison provided the following statement to Bring Me The News following the grand jury's decision:

"My office and I are using the full extent of the law to pursue justice for Zaria McKeever and her family.”

He has an omnibus hearing scheduled for Aug. 25.

A man has been indicted by a grand jury for the 1st-degree murder of his wife, who was found stabbed to death outside of a Champlin home in March 2022.

James Nyonteh, 45, was indicted Monday for the brutal murder of mother-of-three Peachu Yates, 35, whose body was left outside a family member's home on March 28, 2022.

The Hennepin County Attorney's Office has said it will be seeing an aggravated, longer sentence for Nyonteh, who was initially was charged with 2nd-degree murder.

"Aggravated sentencing is necessary because the victim in this case was treated with particular cruelty and was left in the front yard of a relative's home where she had been living with her children and extended family, many of whom were inside the home at the time," the attorney's office said in a statement.

According to the charges, first responders found Yates not breathing and without a pulse in a front yard on Thousand Pines Entry, and was later pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital from multiple stab wounds to the chest and upper body.

One witness told investigators they'd been on the phone with Yates just prior to the stabbing, and that the 35-year-old mother said her husband had a knife. The witness heard Nyonteh remark he wanted to talk, and then the call cut out.

Nyonteh, whom Yates married in 2021, fled to Fargo, North Dakota following the incident.

Nyonteh, whom Yates married in 2021, fled to Fargo, North Dakota following the incident.

At the time of the killing, Nyonteh was being investigated for criminal sexual conduct. Yates and her three children had moved out to live with relatives.

As well as 1st-degree premeditated murder, Nyonteh has been charged with 1st-degree murder while committing domestic abuse with a past pattern of domestic abuse, 2nd-degree intentional murder, and 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct.

“Intimate partner violence is a pervasive crisis in our communities that requires a strong multifaceted response, including aggressive prosecution of those who inflict devastation on families and our community,” Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said.

"This is a horrific case and we will seek the maximum sentence possible."

according to him. Here are the things Trump, who is so often unbound by
facts and evidence, claims will happen if American voters dare to deny him
a second term.

‘The Quality Of Life Is Going To Collapse’ “If Harris gets in, energy
prices will skyrocket far more than even in Europe,” Trump said during
what was billed as a speech on his economic policies in Asheville, North
Carolina.

“Inflation will surge into double-digits in our own country and your
quality of life will absolutely collapse. The quality of life is going to
collapse under these lunatics,” Trump went on.

At another point in the same speech, Trump told the crowd:
“You don’t have to imagine what a Harris presidency would look like.
You’re living through the misery right now, except it will get worse.”

There Will Be ‘A Bloodbath For The Country’ Trump used the eyebrow-raising
term at an Ohio rally in March as he spoke about the American auto
industry, a subject about which he often uses catastrophizing language. He
started out by pledging to impose a 100% tariff on vehicles churned out by
Chinese auto factories. If not elected, he said, “it’s going to be a
bloodbath for the country. That will be the least of it. But they’re not
going to sell those cars.” Trump’s use of “bloodbath” made headlines
across the country due to his history of encouraging political violence.

At another campaign stop, in Detroit, Trump was more straightforward.

“Every autoworker here will be out of a job within three years if I’m not
elected. Every autoworker in this state. They’re all going to be made in
China,” he told a crowd in Howell, Michigan.

There Will Be A 1929-Style Market Crash “We are going to have a crash, and
we’re going to have a crash like a 1929 crash if [Harris] gets in,” Trump
said at a press conference at his New Jersey golf club. It was a
reference to the famous economic disaster that precipitated the Great
Depression.

Christians Will Have To Vote Again (Which Is Bad) Speaking at a Turning
Point Action event in Florida this summer, Trump addressed Christian
voters by claiming a victory for him means less voting in the future,
which he framed positively. “Christians, get out and vote. Just this
time,” Trump said. “You won’t have to do it anymore! Four more years, you
know what, it’ll be fixed. It’ll be fine. You won’t have to vote
anymore, my beautiful Christians. I love you, Christians.” “I’m a
Christian,” he added, gesturing to himself. Critics said Trump’s remarks
were plainly antidemocratic. He later backpedaled by saying he only meant
that he would solve Christian voters’ problems.

Everybody Will Have Health Care (Which Is Bad) At a freewheeling press
conference given from his New Jersey golf club, Trump told reporters:
“You’re all going to be thrown into a communist system. … You’re going to
be thrown into a system where everybody gets health care.” He went on to
claim that Harris wanted to abolish private health insurance. The trouble
is that Harris has backed away from her support of “Medicare for All,” a
plan for a universal health care system similar to those in other wealthy
countries, although she did support such a plan several years ago.

‘Every One Of You Will Be Gone’ Trump went full fire-and-brimstone as he
addressed Bitcoin investors at a conference in July. “If we don’t win
this race — and I know you’re not that political, but you have to be a
political because your whole thing, I mean, you have a lot of politics
involved in what you do,” Trump told the crowd at one point. “Let me tell
you, if they win this election, every one of you will be gone. They will
be vicious. They will be ruthless. They will do things that you wouldn’t
believe,” he said.

“A lot of you people are in the American Dream,” he added later, “but
you’re going to be crushed if you don’t elect me, I hate to tell you. You
don’t elect me, you’re gonna be crushed. ... [You’ll say] we’re going to
move into an extremely small house from a beautiful house.”

More ‘Black Jobs’ Will Be Taken By Immigrants Speaking at the National
Association of Black Journalists conference, Trump remarked, “A lot of the
journalists in this room are Black. And I will tell you that coming from
the border are millions and millions of people that happen to be taking
Black jobs.” “And Kamala is allowing it to happen,” Trump added of his
opponent. (Experts say his immigration claims are untrue.)
Asked to clarify what a “Black job” was, Trump said, “A Black job is
anybody that has a job.”

There May Be No More Elections “If this election isn’t won, I’m not sure
that you’ll ever have another election in this country,” Trump said at the
same Ohio rally where he predicted a “bloodbath.” It’s a sentiment he’s
voiced before. “It could be the last election we ever have. I actually
mean that. We don’t win, I think this could be the last election we ever
have. That’s where our country’s going,” Trump said in April during a
Grand Rapids, Michigan, campaign event.

The U.S. Will Be ‘Finished’ “If we don’t win, I think our country is
finished. I do. I think our country is finished,” Trump remarked in New
Hampshire earlier this year.

In July, he told the Bitcoin investors: “If we don’t win this race, this
country could be finished as we know it.”

Trump Will Flee To Venezuela, Maybe Trump floated a bizarre scenario
during his rambling interview with Elon Musk. He suggested that all of
Venezuela’s criminals were migrating to the U.S. — a statement for which
there is no evidence — resulting in a steep drop in crime in Venezuela.
“If something happens with this election, which would be a horror show,
we’ll meet the next time in Venezuela, because it’ll be a far safer place
to meet than our country. So you and I will go and we’ll have a meeting
and dinner in Venezuela,” Trump told Musk, “because that’s what’s
happening.”

PHOENIX –David Michael Hanson, 41, of Phoenix, was arrested on Wednesday
for making online threats against the President and Vice-President.
Hanson was charged by Federal criminal complaint on Tuesday with five
counts of Threats Against the President and Successors to the Presidency
and five counts of Interstate Communication of Threats.

The complaint alleges that in November and December of 2023, while
living in Arizona, Hanson used a social media platform to post threats
to murder the President and Vice President of the United States. On
November 19, 2023, Hanson posted online a series of threatening
statements including one that stated, “#joeAndKamala I’m asking you to
resign on Monday your alternative is death brutally murdered.” After the
U.S. Secret Service spoke to Hanson and warned him that it was a Federal
crime to post such threats, on December 23, 2023, Hanson posted another
series of similar threats aimed at the President and Vice-President.

Each count of Threats Against the President and Successors to the
Presidency carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison, a fine of
up to $250,000, and up to three years of supervised release. Each count
of Interstate Communication of Threats carries a maximum sentence of

PHOENIX –David Michael Hanson, 41, of Phoenix, was arrested on Wednesday
for making online threats against the President and Vice-President.
Hanson was charged by Federal criminal complaint on Tuesday with five
counts of Threats Against the President and Successors to the Presidency
and five counts of Interstate Communication of Threats.

The complaint alleges that in November and December of 2023, while
living in Arizona, Hanson used a social media platform to post threats
to murder the President and Vice President of the United States. On
November 19, 2023, Hanson posted online a series of threatening
statements including one that stated, “#joeAndKamala I’m asking you to
resign on Monday your alternative is death brutally murdered.” After the
U.S. Secret Service spoke to Hanson and warned him that it was a Federal

A woman who was shot along with her 2-year-old child as they sat in a car in Minneapolis on Sunday has died.

The Minneapolis Police Department says a homicide investigation is underway following the shooting that happened in an alleyway on the 2900 block of Cedar Avenue just before 9:30 p.m.

The mother died at Hennepin County Medical Center Wednesday morning, police have confirmed.

The two-year-old was shot in the face, according to police chief Brian O'Hara. The child is expected to survive.

A preliminary investigation suggests a suspect fired shots into the vehicle.

“I am deeply saddened to learn that the mother of this child has lost her life in such a senseless act of violence,” O’Hara said. “This incident is a tragic reminder of how gun violence can — and is — tearing apart families in our community.”

No arrests have been made. An investigation remains ongoing as police are working to determine if this was a targeted shooting.
