Except for snit, you are the lowest information voter around these parts.

Right from one of the left's most trusted news sources.

html>

' For the second time in less than a week, President Joe Biden falsely claimed Tuesday that the
inflation rate was 9% when he began his presidency.

Biden was criticized by many Republicans, including former president and current presidential rival
Donald Trump, for telling CNN in an interview last Wednesday: “No president’s had the run we’ve had
in terms of creating jobs and bringing down inflation. It was 9% percent when I came to office, 9%.”

Biden repeated the claim about the inflation rate, albeit in slightly vaguer form, in a Tuesday
interview with Yahoo Finance. This time, he said: “I think inflation has gone slightly up. It was at
9% when I came in, and it’s now down around 3%.”

*Facts First: Biden’s claim that the inflation rate was 9% when he became president is not close to
true. The year-over-year inflation rate in January 2021, the month of his inauguration, was about
1.4%. The Biden-era inflation rate did peak at about 9.1% – but that peak occurred in June 2022,
after Biden had been president for more than 16 months. The March 2024 inflation rate, the most
recent available rate at the time Biden made these comments, was about 3.5%, up from about 3.2% the
month prior.*

In other words, Biden’s claims make it sound like inflation is much lower today than it was when he
was inaugurated – but it is actually higher, though there has been a steep decline since the June
2022 peak. (That peak followed Russia’s February 2022 invasion of Ukraine, which sparked global
increases in energy and food prices.) And while Biden’s claims make it sound like the end of the
Trump presidency was plagued by high inflation, inflation was unusually low during Trump’s last
months in the White House amid the economic slowdown caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Similar to a previous false claim

Biden’s false claims in the past week about overall inflation are similar to a false claim he made
in October 2022 when talking about gas prices in particular. In both cases, he has wrongly depicted
a figure from June 2022 as if it was the Biden-era starting point.

A White House official said in a Tuesday email to CNN: “The President was making the point that the
factors that caused inflation were in place when he took office. The pandemic caused inflation
around the world by disrupting our economy and breaking our supply chains.”

The April 2024 inflation rate will be revealed Wednesday with the release of new Consumer Price
Index data. Separate Producer Price Index data that was released on Tuesday showed the highest
wholesale inflation rate in a year. '

Free hint, ma'am, as they always say, correlation doesn't prove
causation. Your quoting of the CNN article explains this, in fact,
that these economic factors aren't directly under the control of the
government or its leaders. If Trump had won in 2020, the inflation
would've happened under his watch. He lost, so it happened under
Biden's watch. Get over it, it's the world we're in. We're not gonna
vote for the antichrist because of some right-wing media scheme, to
tell us it will magically make everything "great". It's a lie. Voting
for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz will keep us on track to continue
recovering from the pandemic.

Better than the world we'll have to live in if Trump is elected.

MAGAnoids aren't going to understand something that complex or nuanced.

Foreign aid is also a facet of national security. Taking actions contrary to US
interests is a good way to have your aid cut. The Egyptians discovered this
after they threw out Mubarak. The winning Muslim brotherhood made it very clear
they weren't going to abide by the Camp David accords and also started
persecuting Coptic Christians.

The US abruptly stopped aid payments (a billion a year to the military, the
lion's share of their budget at that time) so the military promptly threw out
the brotherhood and selected a US/Israel friendly guy to run the country in
order to get the cash flowing again.

A good leader need only appoint competent staff and advisors and reserve only
the big decisions for himself.

Biden has assembled a solid and competent team. Not that I'm happy with
everything they've done, but generally, it's been far better than Trump's four
years.

Oh OK, and right-wing policy is going to resolve that? What a crock of
shit. You can trickle down on someone stupid enough to vote for
oligarchy, I'm voting Blue. Your views have never given us long term
stability. It's discredited. The Democrats are more "conservative", if
you go by their record.

I don't care that she's female, I care that she's ASSuming that
Biden's policies caused the inflation, which is of course not the
truth, but if she wants to be a dumbass and vote for DJT, it's not my
problem, ultimately. People will vote the way they believe they'll
benefit, rightly or wrongly.

FELONY penalties are ALREADY part of federal law, and have been since

That explains why Americans
are splurging on vacations and

Should have killed him.

A Minneapolis man has been sentenced to 13 years in prison after he doused a victim in gasoline and set him on fire.

Charles Medgar Hall, 61, was sentenced to 158 months in prison in Hennepin County court on Wednesday. He previously pleaded guilty to one count of 1st-degree assault.

https://kstp.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Charles-Hall-mug-Hennepin.jpg

According to the criminal complaint, Hall walked into the victim's home on the 7000 block of Perry Avenue North in Brooklyn Center and committed the assault on Dec. 1 of 2022.

Hall’s son told police that his father and the victim had gotten into an argument earlier that day. Surveillance footage also showed Hall drive to a gas station and fill a cup with gasoline after the argument.

At the victim’s home, Hall told his son "to move" and tossed the liquid at the victim before setting him on fire with a butane torch.

The victim's skin "appeared to be melting off his chest, stomach, face and hands" when police arrived at the scene, according to the criminal complaint.

The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office cited “the nature of the offense and Hall’s extensive criminal history” in its sentencing announcement.

“This was an egregious act of violence that caused serious injuries to the victim,” Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said in a statement.

“A sentence of this length is needed to afford appropriate protection for the public from Mr. Hall. My thoughts are with the victim and their loved ones as they attempt to move forward from this terrible period in their lives.”

We're not in any "misery." We're in good times.

* unemployment at near historical low
* inflation low (under 3%)
* GDP growing
* crime *down*
* US not in any wars

Yep: unequivocally good times, and voters are noticing.

Good to see you acknowledge that nobody is enforcing long standing federal law.

I don't acknowledge any such thing, Anony-Mouse, you willfully stupid lying
neo-Nazi fuckwit. What I acknowledge is that your racist neo-Nazi wishes are not
going to be met, and you're going to die a miserable excruciating death.

And we all know that inflation was due to six trillion dollars in printed money
being injected into the economy between May 2020 and June 2021. Four trillion
of that was Trump's doing so it's more accurate to say that Trump is responsible
for the lion's share of the inflation that dogged Biden's first two years as
President.

Since the MAGAs are intent on blaming Biden for inflation that happened on his
watch, it seems only fair for Trump to take the full blame for COVID and the
poor policies that ultimately drove unemployment into double digits and crashed
the economy leaving it to Biden to fix.

Today, we have the most successful economy on the planet, bar none and it's all
because of Biden's $2T American Rescue Plan.

The only thing pothead did was prove his partisanship blinds him to the facts of
the matter.

But that's ok. Blaming Biden for inflation means we get to blame Trump for
COVID and the 2020 implosion of the US economy that Biden had to fix.

Conservative logic: Welfare mothers having child after child to be raised and
educated at public expense is cheaper than providing free birth control to them.

I can excuse regular folk for not understanding complexities of second
and third order effects...

....but where MAGA brains blow up is that they can't even comprehend the
most simple first order stuff. It seems that they only see money being
sent out of the USA, and don't comprehend that is is buying something.
