Weeks after winning a school board seat in her deeply red Texas county,
Courtney Gore immersed herself in the district�s curriculum, spending her
nights and weekends poring over hundreds of pages of lesson plans that
she had fanned out on the coffee table in her living room and even across
her bed. She was searching for evidence of the sweeping national movement
she had warned on the campaign trail was indoctrinating schoolchildren.

Gore, the co-host of a far-right online talk show, had promised that she
would be a strong Republican voice on the nonpartisan school board.
Citing �small town, conservative Christian values,� she pledged to
inspect educational materials for inappropriate messages about sexuality
and race and remove them from every campus in the 7,700-student Granbury
Independent School District, an hour southwest of Fort Worth. �Over the
years our American Education System has been hijacked by Leftists looking
to indoctrinate our kids into the �progressive� way of thinking, and yes,
they�ve tried to do this in Granbury ISD,� she wrote in a September 2021
Facebook post, two months before the election. �I cannot sit by and watch
their twisted worldview infiltrate Granbury ISD.�

But after taking office and examining hundreds of pages of curriculum,
Gore was shocked by what she found � and didn�t find.

The pervasive indoctrination she had railed against simply did not exist.
Children were not being sexualized, and she could find no examples of
critical race theory, an advanced academic concept that examines systemic
racism. She�d examined curriculum related to social-emotional learning,
which has come under attack by Christian conservatives who say it
encourages children to question gender roles and prioritizes feelings
over biblical teachings. Instead, Gore found the materials taught
children �how to be a good friend, a good human.�

Daily Mail exploits failing regulatory system to mislead its readers

Note: On 18 August 2023, the Independent Press Standards Organisation
(IPSO) pointed out, following a complaint from the Daily Mail, that the
following commentary breached its rules about the exchange of information?

that had occurred during its complaints process, which are supposed to
remain secret. In response, this commentary has been modified to remove the
relevant documents.

In March 2023, IPSO published its new corporate strategy?

.. It sets out �five strategic principles that will underpin IPSO�s work�,
including: �Build transparency to improve trust and understanding of our
regulation by the public and by policymakers.� It appears that this
principle does not apply to IPSO�s deeply flawed complaints process.

The Daily Mail has once again exploited a lack of effective press
regulation in the UK in order to promote misinformation about climate
change, writes Bob Ward.

In the latest in a series of fundamentally flawed decisions, the
Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) allowed the Daily Mail to
cite the newspaper�s own hyperbolic coverage to justify a false claim that
a major report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change had used
�hysterical language�.

This is further confirmation that IPSO is simply not willing or able to
hold its member newspapers to account for misleading the public about
climate change, and adds to growing calls for its replacement with a truly
independent regulatory system that prioritises the public interest.

On 21 March 2023, the Daily Mail published an absurd leading article?
under the headline �Climate hysteria�?

, which significantly misrepresented the content of the Synthesis Report of
the Sixth Assessment Report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate
Change (IPCC).

Prepared by 93 experts from across the world, the Synthesis Report brought
together the findings of three comprehensive assessments of the physical
science basis, impacts, adaptation and vulnerability, and mitigation of
climate change.

Written in characteristically sober language, the report�s Summary for
Policymakers was approved line by line by the governments of 195 nations,
including the United Kingdom, during a marathon seven-day session.

Among the main conclusions of the Summary for Policymakers was:

�Continued greenhouse gas emissions will lead to increasing global warming,
with the best estimate of reaching 1.5�C in the near term in considered
scenarios and modelled pathways. Every increment of global warming will
intensify multiple and concurrent hazards (high confidence). Deep, rapid,
and sustained reductions in greenhouse gas emissions would lead to a
discernible slowdown in global warming within around two decades, and also
to discernible changes in atmospheric composition within a few years (high
confidence).�

The publication of the report on 20 March 2023 received worldwide media
coverage, including a hyperbolic news report?

by the Daily Mail. The opening sentences of the newspaper�s story stated:

�Time is running out for humanity to curb global warming that will plunge
the planet into disastrous flooding, heatwaves and famines, a major UN
report warns.

�The study by hundreds of leading scientists says the world is �nearing the
point of no return� � but could still prevent catastrophe.�

The newspaper included very few actual quotations from the IPCC�s report,
preferring its own version of the experts� findings.

The leading article that accompanied the news report misrepresented the
IPCC�s findings and seems to have been written by someone who had not read
them. It stated:

�The prophecies of catastrophe by UN climate scientists yesterday were
distinctly familiar. Disastrous global warming. Disastrous floods,
heatwaves and famine. Time running out for humanity.

�Yet we�ve heard such hair-raising predictions many times over the years
and they often fall short of reality.

�Nobody believes more strongly than the Mail that we should strive to look
after our planet for our children and grandchildren.

�But wouldn�t it be easier to trust the green lobby � and encourage people
to make sacrifices to help the environment � if such hysterical language
was avoided?�

The IPCC report did not contain �prophecies of catastrophe�. Indeed, the
words �catastrophe� and �disastrous� do not appear at all in the report.
Nor is the phrase �time running out for humanity� present in the report;
instead it was taken from the newspaper�s own account.

The accusation that the IPCC report used �hysterical language� is untrue.

The claim that �we�ve heard such hair-raising predictions many times over
the years and they often fall short of reality� is also false. The
projections in previous IPCC reports have proved remarkably accurate. The
contribution of IPCC Working Group I to the Sixth Assessment Report
concluded?

:

�Overall, there is medium confidence that past projections of global
temperature are consistent with subsequent observations, especially when
accounting for the difference in radiative forcings used and those which
actually occurred (limited evidence, high agreement).�

The newspaper was also wrong to describe the authors of the report as �UN
climate scientists�, as they are not employed by the United Nations but
instead work at universities and research organisations around the world,
and were nominated by member governments of the IPCC, including the UK.

And of course, it was also completely false to describe the authors as �the
green lobby�.

The Daily Mail, like other right-wing national newspapers in the UK,
regulates itself through the so-called Independent Press Standards
Organisation?

(IPSO). The regulator is funded by its member newspapers and magazines, and
was created in September 2014 after the Press Complaints Commission was
disbanded following criticisms of its failures around the tabloid phone
hacking scandal.

However, some major newspapers, including the Financial Times, The
Guardian, The Observer and The Independent, are not members of IPSO?

and regulate themselves in other ways.

One of the supposed functions of IPSO is to enforce compliance by its
member publications with the Editors� Code of Practice?

.. Clause 1(i) of the Code states:

�The Press must take care not to publish inaccurate, misleading or
distorted information or images, including headlines not supported by the
text.�

IPSO only investigates potential breaches of the Code in response to one or
more formal complaints. Unfortunately, the IPSO Complaints Committee?

does not include any scientists, and it refuses to consult external experts
during its consideration of complaints.

The Complaints Committee has a history of rejecting complaints about
inaccurate and misleading articles about climate change in IPSO
publications, often allowing false claims to stand as opinions or points of
view.

After the publication of its inaccurate and misleading article on 21 March,
I contacted the Daily Mail to seek a correction. The newspaper refused, in
violation of Clause 1(ii) of the Editors� Code of Practice, which states:

�A significant inaccuracy, misleading statement or distortion must be
corrected, promptly and with due prominence, and � where appropriate � an
apology published. In cases involving IPSO, due prominence should be as
required by the regulator�.

I then submitted a complaint to IPSO, which initially attempted to mediate
before presenting my case to its Complaints Committee.

The newspaper�s defence was weak. It argued that the criticisms in its
leading article were not specifically aimed at the IPCC report, and cited a
list of completely unrelated material that it claimed could be legitimately
attacked. For instance, it justified its criticisms on the grounds that
�the article is not referring solely to the IPCC report�. I pointed out
that whether or not the criticisms were aimed specifically or generally at
the IPCC report, they were still inaccurate and misleading.

However, the newspaper continued with this ludicrous line of argument. For
instance, in defending the statement that �we�ve heard such hair-raising
predictions many times over the years and they often fall short of
reality�, the newspaper provided the following rambling explanation:

�Turning to your specific point, there has been widespread coverage of
�such hair raising predictions� � the corresponding news article in the
same paper (attached) sets out that the report had claimed that �time was
running out for humanity� and �nearing the point of no return�. Antonio
Guterres said that the report is a �survival guide for humanity� and that
�humanity is on thin ice�. Ross Clark gave more examples in his follow-up
piece to this story (attached) where he said that Greenpeace had claimed
the report was �our final warning�; Ed Miliband said that we need to act to
ensure children had �a liveable future�. Dominic Lawson wrote in November
2022 (attached) about Just Stop Oil claiming that the Government�s decision
to license more drilling in the North Sea would kill �millions� of people
and that Greta Thunburg [sic] said that by 2030, the world would face �the
end of civilisation as we know it�.�

Here’s what I saw first-hand. One of my teams, two Senior girls, went into a round as the Affirmative team. I don’t recall the topic that year (a decade ago), but I do remember them emerging from the round in tears. They lost—and were told they lost—because the Negative team argued they should lose. As two white, privileged students from a private school, Neg claimed, the Affirmative team embodied everything wrong with America.

I thought there had to be some mistake. But when I saw the ballot a couple of hours later, it was true. The judge wrote that in the interest of social justice, he handed the win to the Negative team—even though Neg offered not a single argument against the Aff plan.

In another round, one of my teams was a little confused when a member of the opposing team got up and left just as the round started. The judge didn’t object, so my guys went on as usual—making their speeches, organizing their thoughts and crafting their arguments. In the penultimate speech (Second Negative Rebuttal), the absent Neg team member returned, holding a can full of coins. He argued that Neg should win because instead of wasting time in the round, he was out collecting money for a climate change charity—real-world action should trump ineffectual speech, he said (mind you, at a speech tournament). Neg won that round.

What does one kritik-dependent team do when it comes up against another
kritik-dependent team? I’ve watched those rounds devolved into a morass
of intersectionality. “You may be female, but I’m Hispanic.” You may be
Hispanic, but I have a learning disability.” “Your school spends more
per-student than mine.”

This law, which goes into effect Sept. 1, includes a list of founding documents that Texas students must be taught. It also includes a list of additional historical documents written by people of color and women that House Democrats had added. It also mandates that students be taught “the history of white supremacy, including but not limited to the institution of slavery, the eugenics movement, and the Ku Klux Klan, and the ways in which it is morally wrong.”

Still, many educators and education advocacy groups had opposed the bill, which states that teachers cannot be compelled to discuss current events and if they do, they must “give deference to both sides.” Opponents say it limits honest conversations about race and racism in American society and will force teachers to equivocate on controversial or sensitive topics that will result in less educated students.

It also prohibits students from getting credit or extra credit for participating in civic activities that include political activism or lobbying elected officials on a particular issue.

The version signed by the governor also bans the teaching of The New York Times’ 1619 Project, a reporting endeavor that examines U.S. history from the date when enslaved people first arrived on American soil, marking that as the country’s foundational date.

Child sex abuse happens across Protestant and evangelical churches - and,
at times, at a higher rate.

An investigation by The Associated Press recently found three insurance
companies in the United States that provide liability coverage for 165,000
Protestant churches typically receive 260 reports every year of children
being sexually abused by Protestant clergy or other staff.

In 2013, Boz Tchividjian, a Liberty University law professor, said the
Christian mission field is a "magnet" for sexual abusers.

Tchividjian, a grandson of the late evangelist the Rev. Billy Graham,
excoriated evangelicals for turning a blind eye to abuse among their
ranks.

The Presbyterian Church

In recent years, the Presbyterian Church, one of the most progressive
mainline denominations, has been rocked by child sexual abuse cases. The
majority of cases involved the children of missionaries serving overseas
from the 1950s to 1990.

In the wake of mounting allegations, the church commissioned an
independent panel to investigate the reports. The panel found that at
least nine individuals, including ministers ordained with the
denomination, had abused children.

A similar investigation in 2002 found "overwhelming" evidence that at
least 22 girls and women had been sexually abused by a Presbyterian
minister and missionary over a 40-year period.

The abuse took place in Africa and the United States.

Southern Baptists

A survey by the Journal of Pastoral Care in 1993 found that 14 percent of
Southern Baptist ministers said they had engaged in "inappropriate sexual
behavior."

By 2000, a report to the Baptist General Convention found the incidence of
sexual abuse by clergy had reached "horrific proportions." Victims
advocates have derided church leadership for protecting predators and
covering up crimes.

In 2016 the Southern Baptist Convention elected Steve Gaines as its
president. A few years earlier, Gaines, at the time head of a Memphis,
Tennessee, church was implicated in clergy child molestation case.
Investigators said Gaines knew for years that one of his ministers had
sexually molested a child. Gaines neither reported the crime to police or
his congregation, police said.

Jehovah's Witnesses

Leaked internal documents this year catapulted the Jehovah's Witnesses
church unto the child sex crimes roster.

The insular church discouraged victims of sexual abuse from reporting the
abuse, the documents showed.

The leaked documents exposed sexual abuse accusations from three accusers
against a member of the church. The documents outline the efforts by the
church to cover up the scandal and keep it from the "worldly court of
law."

Since the news broke, hundreds of church members have come forward with
their own accounts of abuse. Attorneys believe there are thousands of
victims involved.

Predators: not so much pastors but volunteers

The majority of accused predators in faith settings are not clergy or
staff but church volunteers.

That is according to the Christian Ministry Resources, which serves more
than 75,000 congregations and 1,000 denominational agencies nationwide.

Annual surveys from the organization suggest that in recent years, the
pace of child-abuse allegations against American churches has averaged 70
a week.

Ultra-orthodox Jews

The New York community of ultra-Orthodox Jews has faced a backlash for
asking observant Jews to consult a rabbi instead of going immediately to
police with evidence of child sexual abuse.

Similar cases have sprung in other cities, including Baltimore and Miami,
involving allegations of sexual misconduct by orthodox Jewish leaders.

The case involving Rabbi Shmuel Krawatsky, formerly of the Beth Tfiloh
Dahan Community School in Baltimore, involves the alleged abuse of at
least three boys at a summer camp.

According to a report by The Jewish Week, the rabbi, who was naked and
alone in a pool changing room with two alleged victims, touched the boys
inappropriately before asking them to touch his "private parts" in
exchange for $100."

The report also states that the rabbi threatened the young boys not to
tell their parents.

Given the faith's shroud of secrecy there is no hard data regarding the
number of potential abuse victims in the Orthodox Jewish community.
Experts estimate that there could be thousands of victims dating back
decades.

The principle of mesirah forbids reporting a Jewish practitioner to
secular authorities. Issues are supposed to be handled internally within
the greater faith community.

Dennis Hastert

In 2016, Dennis Hastert, the longest-serving Republican Speaker of the
House in U.S. history, was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison for
structuring payouts in order to cover up the sexual abuses he perpetrated
as a wrestling coach in Illinois decades ago.

"The thing I want to do is say I'm sorry to those I've hurt and misled.
They looked at me and I took advantage of them," Hastert told a judge.

U.S. District Judge Thomas Durkin called Hastert "a serial child
molester."

Hastert was released last year from a federal prison in Minnesota after
serving nearly 13 months.

The former Republican powerhouse was ordered to serve two years of court-
ordered supervised release .

Jerry Sandusky

Former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky is serving up to 60 years
in prison for sexually abusing 10 boys between 1994 and 2009.

Sandusky targeted his victims from among the boys who attended his Second
Mile camp, a charity that he ran for at-risk youth. He was convicted of 45
of 48 counts of child sexual abuse against young boys from the charity

Banned swimming coaches

Approximately 150 youth swimming coaches have been banned for life as a
result of credible child sex crimes allegations against them.

In 2010, Andy King, a coach with a California aquatics club, was charged
with 20 counts of lewd acts with girls 15 and younger. He was sentenced to
40 years in prison for molesting girls training with the San Jose Aquatics
Club. King was alleged to have impregnated one of his victims when she was
14.

In 2008, Central Indiana Aquatics coach Brian Hindson was accused of
setting up hidden cameras in locker rooms. He pleaded guilty to charges
including distribution, production and possession of child pornography and
was sentenced to 33 years in prison.

A coach who failed to step up

Chuch Wielgus, who served as executive director of USA Swimming for nearly
20 years, came under fire for his handling of sex abuse cases.

In 2014, more than four years after rebuking culpability, Wielgus
apologized to victims and acknowledged that he should have done more to
protect athletes.

He wrote in a blog post: "I wish my eyes had been more open to the
individual stories of the horrors of sexual abuse. I wish I had known more
so perhaps I could have done more."

Wielgus died in 2017.

Millions of children abused by teachers

Schools are supposed to be a safe environment for children, but they can
actually be one of the most dangerous places for children with regards to
sexual abuse.

A study commissioned by the U.S. Department of Education found that up to
7 percent of all middle and high school students were the targets of
physical sexual abuse by teachers, coaches and other adults working in the
school system.

That statistic puts the number of young teens sexually abused by teachers
and other school adults in the millions.

A 2015 report found that just under 500 educators were arrested in
connection to child sex crimes:

3.5 million students (grades 8th-11th) reported having had physical
sexual contact from an adult (most often a teacher or coach).
4.5 million children reported being shown pornography or being
subjected to sexually explicit language or exhibitionism.

According to a report by The Washington Post, 35 percent of educators
convicted or accused of sexual misconduct with children had used social
media to gain access to their victims.

Young children have long been taught about "stranger danger," but, in
fact, most perpetrators are individuals close to a child, including a day
care worker or volunteer. According to federal health authorities,
pedophiles and child molesters, in general:

tend to be male
can be heterosexual, homosexual, or bisexual
range in age from teens to midlife
are usually a relative, friend, or neighbor of the child
carry the abuse out in the home of the victim
often claim that they themselves were victims of childhood sexual
abuse.

The majority of victims are girls. When boys are victims, the sexual abuse
tends to take place outside the home, and the perpetrator may be a
stranger.

Daily Mail exploits failing regulatory system to mislead its readers
Commentary on 17 August, 2023

Note: On 18 August 2023, the Independent Press Standards Organisation
(IPSO) pointed out, following a complaint from the Daily Mail, that the
following commentary breached its rules about the exchange of information?

that had occurred during its complaints process, which are supposed to
remain secret. In response, this commentary has been modified to remove the
relevant documents.

In March 2023, IPSO published its new corporate strategy?

.. It sets out �five strategic principles that will underpin IPSO�s work�,
including: �Build transparency to improve trust and understanding of our
regulation by the public and by policymakers.� It appears that this
principle does not apply to IPSO�s deeply flawed complaints process.

The Daily Mail has once again exploited a lack of effective press
regulation in the UK in order to promote misinformation about climate
change, writes Bob Ward.

In the latest in a series of fundamentally flawed decisions, the
Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) allowed the Daily Mail to
cite the newspaper�s own hyperbolic coverage to justify a false claim that
a major report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change had used
�hysterical language�.

This is further confirmation that IPSO is simply not willing or able to
hold its member newspapers to account for misleading the public about
climate change, and adds to growing calls for its replacement with a truly
independent regulatory system that prioritises the public interest.

On 21 March 2023, the Daily Mail published an absurd leading article?
under the headline �Climate hysteria�?

, which significantly misrepresented the content of the Synthesis Report of
the Sixth Assessment Report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate
Change (IPCC).

Prepared by 93 experts from across the world, the Synthesis Report brought
together the findings of three comprehensive assessments of the physical
science basis, impacts, adaptation and vulnerability, and mitigation of
climate change.

Written in characteristically sober language, the report�s Summary for
Policymakers was approved line by line by the governments of 195 nations,
including the United Kingdom, during a marathon seven-day session.

Among the main conclusions of the Summary for Policymakers was:

�Continued greenhouse gas emissions will lead to increasing global warming,
with the best estimate of reaching 1.5�C in the near term in considered
scenarios and modelled pathways. Every increment of global warming will
intensify multiple and concurrent hazards (high confidence). Deep, rapid,
and sustained reductions in greenhouse gas emissions would lead to a
discernible slowdown in global warming within around two decades, and also
to discernible changes in atmospheric composition within a few years (high
confidence).�

The publication of the report on 20 March 2023 received worldwide media
coverage, including a hyperbolic news report?

by the Daily Mail. The opening sentences of the newspaper�s story stated:

�Time is running out for humanity to curb global warming that will plunge
the planet into disastrous flooding, heatwaves and famines, a major UN
report warns.

�The study by hundreds of leading scientists says the world is �nearing the
point of no return� � but could still prevent catastrophe.�

The newspaper included very few actual quotations from the IPCC�s report,
preferring its own version of the experts� findings.

The leading article that accompanied the news report misrepresented the
IPCC�s findings and seems to have been written by someone who had not read
them. It stated:

�The prophecies of catastrophe by UN climate scientists yesterday were
distinctly familiar. Disastrous global warming. Disastrous floods,
heatwaves and famine. Time running out for humanity.

�Yet we�ve heard such hair-raising predictions many times over the years
and they often fall short of reality.

�Nobody believes more strongly than the Mail that we should strive to look
after our planet for our children and grandchildren.

�But wouldn�t it be easier to trust the green lobby � and encourage people
to make sacrifices to help the environment � if such hysterical language
was avoided?�

The IPCC report did not contain �prophecies of catastrophe�. Indeed, the
words �catastrophe� and �disastrous� do not appear at all in the report.
Nor is the phrase �time running out for humanity� present in the report;
instead it was taken from the newspaper�s own account.

The accusation that the IPCC report used �hysterical language� is untrue.

The claim that �we�ve heard such hair-raising predictions many times over
the years and they often fall short of reality� is also false. The
projections in previous IPCC reports have proved remarkably accurate. The
contribution of IPCC Working Group I to the Sixth Assessment Report
concluded?

:

�Overall, there is medium confidence that past projections of global
temperature are consistent with subsequent observations, especially when
accounting for the difference in radiative forcings used and those which
actually occurred (limited evidence, high agreement).�

The newspaper was also wrong to describe the authors of the report as �UN
climate scientists�, as they are not employed by the United Nations but
instead work at universities and research organisations around the world,
and were nominated by member governments of the IPCC, including the UK.

And of course, it was also completely false to describe the authors as �the
green lobby�.

The Daily Mail, like other right-wing national newspapers in the UK,
regulates itself through the so-called Independent Press Standards
Organisation?

(IPSO). The regulator is funded by its member newspapers and magazines, and
was created in September 2014 after the Press Complaints Commission was
disbanded following criticisms of its failures around the tabloid phone
hacking scandal.

However, some major newspapers, including the Financial Times, The
Guardian, The Observer and The Independent, are not members of IPSO?

and regulate themselves in other ways.

One of the supposed functions of IPSO is to enforce compliance by its
member publications with the Editors� Code of Practice?

.. Clause 1(i) of the Code states:

�The Press must take care not to publish inaccurate, misleading or
distorted information or images, including headlines not supported by the
text.�

IPSO only investigates potential breaches of the Code in response to one or
more formal complaints. Unfortunately, the IPSO Complaints Committee?

does not include any scientists, and it refuses to consult external experts
during its consideration of complaints.

The Complaints Committee has a history of rejecting complaints about
inaccurate and misleading articles about climate change in IPSO
publications, often allowing false claims to stand as opinions or points of
view.

After the publication of its inaccurate and misleading article on 21 March,
I contacted the Daily Mail to seek a correction. The newspaper refused, in
violation of Clause 1(ii) of the Editors� Code of Practice, which states:

�A significant inaccuracy, misleading statement or distortion must be
corrected, promptly and with due prominence, and � where appropriate � an
apology published. In cases involving IPSO, due prominence should be as
required by the regulator�.

I then submitted a complaint to IPSO, which initially attempted to mediate
before presenting my case to its Complaints Committee.

The newspaper�s defence was weak. It argued that the criticisms in its
leading article were not specifically aimed at the IPCC report, and cited a
list of completely unrelated material that it claimed could be legitimately
attacked. For instance, it justified its criticisms on the grounds that
�the article is not referring solely to the IPCC report�. I pointed out
that whether or not the criticisms were aimed specifically or generally at
the IPCC report, they were still inaccurate and misleading.

However, the newspaper continued with this ludicrous line of argument. For
instance, in defending the statement that �we�ve heard such hair-raising
predictions many times over the years and they often fall short of
reality�, the newspaper provided the following rambling explanation:

�Turning to your specific point, there has been widespread coverage of
�such hair raising predictions� � the corresponding news article in the
same paper (attached) sets out that the report had claimed that �time was
running out for humanity� and �nearing the point of no return�. Antonio
Guterres said that the report is a �survival guide for humanity� and that
�humanity is on thin ice�. Ross Clark gave more examples in his follow-up
piece to this story (attached) where he said that Greenpeace had claimed
the report was �our final warning�; Ed Miliband said that we need to act to
ensure children had �a liveable future�. Dominic Lawson wrote in November
2022 (attached) about Just Stop Oil claiming that the Government�s decision
to license more drilling in the North Sea would kill �millions� of people
and that Greta Thunburg [sic] said that by 2030, the world would face �the
end of civilisation as we know it�.�
