I don't think Australia, Canada, UK, Ireland or NZ has ever had a (TV)
writer's strike...
A different kind of strike (Technicians) affected a 'missing' Dr Who episode
during the latter parts of the Tom Baker era -- but nothing that
specifically that affected show scripts. However, modern TV production in
the Commonwealth is probably totally immune to writers strikes, but this is
probably coupled with writers having more actual [common law] protection of
their intellectual property in those countries.

Both the Aussie writers talked about going out on strike in solidarity but
they are currently between jobs at present.

Canada is honoring the strike.

New Zealand has writers for TV shows?!?!? The shows are so bad here
that I always thought the "actors" simply made stuff up as they went
along. ;-)

Worse than ours? Damn! Most of our shows are made up as they go --
Survivor -- Dancing With the Stars -- American Idol etc. -- no scripts.
Then there's lots of talk shows and news reports saying the same shit read
from the same White House press releases.
