That would be an incorrect guess, the lack of spam is due to a rather
dead usenet group, it is still carried by Google Groups which bought
Deja News way back and merged it into GG.

Eternal September is better than GG, better threading using a news
reader.

Well as I say, I never use it. However, there is spam on other groups, so
maybe some other servers have dropped it. If you look at for example
alt.sadistic or alt.torture you see many phone sex comons type posts there.

I doubt that is the case. The spammers seldom care where they post, you only
have to look around groups for the folk peddling drugs to realise this.
I think its filtering myself.
