Just heard on YouTube that there's a story on Sky and Telescope to the
effect that it appears that Orion and Meade may have closed their
doors. However, the old Meade closed up years ago, with Orion buying
the name... of course, since Meade was still manufacturing in Mexico
instead of China, possibly they were still making high-quality
telescopes rather than just being a brand for the same stuff you could
buy from Orion.
