I have merged the devel branch into master for rslight yesterday.

Most of the changes have to do with adding memcache support.

If you wish to run rslight with memcached, it's simple. It's up to you to install and run memcached, which is not complicated, then edit memcache.inc.php in rslight and it should just work.

Logging is an option, but it will create somewhat large log files (at least on a busy site). The logging is really there for debugging, and the wording in the logging is aimed at helping devs (me) know where in the code to look for issues.

Anyway, memcache support is now in master for rslight. I am running it on www.novabbs.com and www.novabbs.org, and it's working fine.

When using this feature, rslight will cache quite a few types of database requests in memory, so the db will not need to be accessed again for the same information, and no files need to be accessed. The data is in ram.

Unless a site is reasonably busy, you would probably not notice any difference in performance, but for a busy site, it is a benefit.

Only one of my sites benefits from this feature, and it's working well.
