I assume that's just because everybody is busy playing "Elden Ring:
Shadow of the Erdtree". I know the base game was quite popular here,
so I suspect many of the regulars here have rushed out to buy the
recently-released DLC on day one.

Not me, though. Souls-games never grabbed me the way they did others;
I play them, but that style of gameplay is more a detriment than bonus
in my eyes. And the big open world of "Elden Ring" also doesn't help;
I'm /tired/ of all these giant games. I never thought I'd say this,
but I miss the era when I could get through a game in ten hours.

But more power to those who enjoy this sort of thing. Just, um, maybe
drop by Usenet and say hello every now and again? ;-)

There is s new Elden Ring game out?
Man, if I didn't check here once in a while I wouldn't know.

I'm busy planning my next DnD and Traveller games (also Shadowrun)
when I am not trying to get my uucp network running on my
machine. We started putting one together lately, but now the
other guy interested in it went on holidays and I am stuck
talking to myself on it.

I just started playing the base game. Still getting used to the
controls and play til death once a day. Watched a video on youtube and
they said it is a very hard game.

I put *well* over 100hrs in the base game, and am in no hurry to return
to it. Instead, I'm playing this group's most hated game....Doom Eternal!
I bounced off it hard on release, but now I put it on Easy difficulty and am
progressing well, even finding all the secrets on each level and most of the
Challenges so far.

I didn't pre-order it but I'll probably buy it soon. It's apparently
the highest rated DLC ever, and has about half the content of the
insanely long main game, and quite a bit more challenging as well.

I have been playing ER and working on getting a new character up the the
DLC. It's weird, but the more I play one of the games the more I enjoy
them. I don't have to look up as much, know what I can skip (yeah I
didn't skip anything in previous games, but this one's so large I feel
it's necessary,) and I'm better at fighting the bosses.

It's been long enough it's not feeling too much of the same-old
same-old, I'm trying a dex character this time, which is different from
my others. Yet my subconscious still seems to know the way around
automatically fairly well.

It's not a new game per se. It's an expansion to the original, but
reviews indicate it's such a MEATY add-on that it could, in some ways,
be considered a proper sequel. For obvious reasons, I can't confirm
these claims, but I've seen the line repeated several times.

Anyway, it came out yesterday.

it's funny, but Linux managed to take over the phone market in most of
the world, IoT and embedded systems, and most servers in the world run
Linux... just that pesky desktop market still doesn't want to switch...

I think we're getting closer since the Steam Deck uses Linux, and Steam
Deck is getting fairly popular. And MS seems to be going crazier and
crazier.

Fallout Tactics, because by the time I picked it up the computers had
surpassed it significantly. Never got to play it without weird
artifacts drifting all over the screen. Wasted my money.
