So, yeah. You know how the last time I did one of these things I said
that I was finally back into the habit of doing it every two weeks, a
schedule I intended to keep moving forward? Yeah, that didn't happen.

But I haven't completely forgotten about Amazon Prime Gaming, as
evidenced by this very post. So what's Jeff Bezos picked out for us
this month?

* The Forgotten City
For me, the most exciting part of this game is that it started
as a mod for Skyrim before it became a stand-alone product.
But that's really selling the game short, since it's a very
fun, innovative adventure with a neat time-loop mechanic
coupled to a well-polished presentation. Definitely a
game deserving of a place in your library.

* Bramble: The Mountain King (via EPIC)
Tell me if this sounds familiar: it's an Indie game. Most
of the game takes place at night or in dark situations. The
setting is vaguely fantastic, with lots of monsters. The
gameplay is largely side-scrolling platforming. Most of the
game is about avoiding -not killing- monsters. The
protagonist is a young child, and if he dies, he dies
horrifically and graphically. Yeah, it's another one
of THOSE. "Bramble" isn't a bad game (quite the opposite)
but it's anything but fresh in concept or execution.

* The Lullaby of Life (via GOG)
This is a hard-one to describe. It's a top-down adventure
game where you guide your onscreen avatar through a mostly
linear, somewhat surreal game-world and use timing based
music puzzles to progress. Even though it may be judging a
book by its cover, it's cutesy graphics and gameplay aren't
really inspiring me to find out more about it, though.

* Spirit of Mystery: Whisper of the Past
Another of the seemingly endless "hidden object" games that
show up every month on Prime Gaming. It's pure filler as far
as I'm concerned, but everybody's taste varies. If you liked
any of these games in the past, you'll probably like this one
too. If you didn't, I doubt "Whisper of the Past" will
convince you otherwise.

* 100 Doors Games: Escape from School (via Legacy)
Yet-Another-Hidden-Object-Game (YAHOG), and its on Legacy
to boot. I don't care enough about the game to learn
anything else about it.

I'd write this month off as uninteresting, except "The Forgotten City"
single-handedly redeems it in my eyes. Well, almost. I already own the
game so the overall value of the package is somewhat reduced in my
case. But if you haven't acquired the game yet, it's a pretty cool
bundle. "Bramble" looks neat too, even if it lacks novelty. The others
don't excite me, but one great, one good and three blah are still a
pretty good value as far as I'm concerned.

But the real question is: will I be back for the next Prime Gaming
Announcement in two weeks or should I give up on that dream?
