This is one I own already on GOG. A really good game I always have
installed as I keep coming back to it. It is going to take you awhile
to finish it if you do everything the game has to offer.

I tend to be a bit anal about completing quests and uncovering the map.

I like games that take weeks to finish.

Glad someone's getting some use out of some of these re-gifted free games :)

I was so irritated with BG1 going really bad (to me at the time anyway)
real time with pause I never could bring myself to play BG2. I did
rather enjoy the NPC party members in BG1 though, "Go for the eyes Boo!"
and "Stop touching me!" It just wasn't worth the slog to finish it.

I also remember modding* in Xena and Ash voices and pics as characters
in BG2.

(*if you can call it modding since you just had to add the sound and pic
file names in.)

I've always heard BG2 was even better. One of these days maybe I'll
actually get around to it.

I love the real time with pause system and is one of the reasons I
like the game so much.

Yeah I added a bunch more pics and voice samples so I have more
choices whenever I create a new character.

If it is the combat from the first game that turned you off, I don't
think you will care for the sequel.
