I'm queuing for these cards and I see a lot of pci cards being
mis-labeled as PCI-e when its PCI-X and vice versa!

Agreed! PCI-X cards have extra connectors to allow them to be used in
servers with all the remote control and monitoring. They can and will
work in standard PCI sockets provided there isn't any hardware
(capacitors, heat sinks, large ICs etc.) to get in the way because
they are generally 3/4 or full length cards.

pci-x still works in standard PCI, despite the tab's 3/4 length?

I'd have to look when I get that asrock 4coredual mobo to see if it has
obstacles.

would the last part of the tab need to be covered up?

I have the single channel version of that card in another computer
that we use for reading clients tapes. It is in a standard PCI socket
and in the just over two years of use we haven't seen any problems.

The big problem is finding a slot on the MB that will allow the unused
last part of the plug to fit. It might be an idea to cover the
exposed connectors is there is any possibility of anything shorting
them out, in our case I didn't bother because there is nothing nearby.
