Dear colm:ers and ap:ers,

As regular readers of my posts know, I had the unpleasant opportunity
to fly with ryanair, back to my refuge from the wokeness of western
europe.

I generally do not like people, and I like male flight attendants hellbent
on charming me even less.

Why on earth, would you as a flight attendant, when I clearly do not want
to engage and do my best to stare at the ceiling, the wall over his head
or shoulder, loudly scream "HELLLOOOOO!" and try to blind me with beaming
laser smile?

My main goal on a flight is to interact with as few people as possible,
and to get off the plane as quick as possible.

Thankfully he was quiet during the flight, but tried the same thing when I
tried to leave. I responded by ignoring him even more.

Add to that a toddler from hell screaming about 25% of the flight, and it
was very unpleasant.

There was one saving grace... a very beautiful female flight attendant who
let me sit next to my wife, so she could decrease my suffering. Before
landing she shooed me away so as not to affect the balance of the 737
(BS!) and I said that of course I have to take my bag and coat so as not
to "affect the balance" or else I would be afraid of the plane crashing.

To my great surprise she smiled at my joke, and said, "well, I don't think
it would be that serious".

I liked that! =D

But my 1 hour ride throug hell is now over, and I'm happily back in my
apartment and not in a long metal tube full of people I do not like or do
not want to meet! All is good now!

Fuck me - a real misanthrope!

Ryanair is the worst airline except for the legendary Braamfontein
Airlines - "the only planes with outside toilets"

RyanAir is truly one of the world's worst airlines. With Spirit Air in
the US doing their best to emulate them.

As a libertarian, you should hate them even more, because they do their
very best to milk government subsidies; they like to fly in and out of
tiny regional airports attracted there by regional development agencies
that want to bost that they village airport has international airline
service.

I suspect the weight of your body is more that the weight of you bag and
coat, so there may have been some rational thought in her answer, too.

Yes, the Donald Trump of *anthropes! ;)

This is the truth! In my levels of hell Wizz air are worse than Ryanair
though, but it's pretty close between the two of them.

If I was a billionaire, the first thing I would do is to never again fly
with a commercial airline. Possibly, not fly at all, but we'll see about
that when I'm there. ;)

This is very good information. I will do my absolute best to avoid Spirit
air next time I go to the US!

This is the truth! I do not like companies milking the government for
subsidies and money. As a libertarian, I am against parts of amazon and
parts of facebook, google & co as well.

If it gets you where you want to go at rock bottom prices, who cares?

I think you are factually mistaken, My uncle claimed to have actually
used an outdoor toilet on another plane.

Apparently, he had been on a bombing mission in WW2 and was flying back
over the North Sea when he had a desperate need for a shit. So he put
the plane on auto pilot, opened the bomb door and took a shit through it.

Much relieved, he returned to base. Whereupon his commanding officer met
him in front of his plane, and was congratulating him on a successful
mission. Apparently halfway through this chat, his commander looked at
the plane and became strangely distracted, it was only then that my
uncle realised there were long brown smears all along the fuselage...

That is genuine story on my part, if my uncle was bullshitting me, or
not, I will never know.

Fascinating! I would have used some equipment or a helmet or equivalent,
but to each is own. With a helmet, the story would not have been as good,
so retrospectively, it was the right choice. ;)

On second thought, if someone would have used the helmet, it could have
made for a nice finish!

BOATS - nice, or cargo ......

If you're rich, private jets - but few

Hmmm ... passage on a cargo ship DOES
have a certain 'romantic' aspect ....

If I was a bit younger .......

I believe the reason is that, if there is an accident, they can identify
you as the person listed to be sitting on 17B.

For the record, I love flying.

Not necessary. They can do that by other means. Also people are switching
around all the time, so clearly it was a b.s. response. B.s. responses
must always be punished to stop them from happening.

> For the record, I love flying.

For the record, I hate flying and consider myself being in hell from the
moment I step into the airport. It is very difficult for me to imagine a
more denigrating, inhuman and undignified way to travel than modern travel
by plane.

If I had my own private jet, and my own airport, I might reconsider. Until
then, I do my best to never move from the city I am in. Sadly my wife and
father make life very difficult for me sometimes, so that is when I do
move for their sake. But otherwise, I would happily live the rest of my
days next to my beloved fishing lake. =)

Yes! Boats and trains, and to a lesser extent cars, are all good options!
=) As long as I can move around, have a 1 star michelin dinner in a

I can only conclude that the people who take pleasure in shitting up a
computing newsgroup with politics, axe-grinding, and other endless,
irrelevant bloviations must suffer from the same fundamental defect of
the psyche as people who expose themselves on public transit.

If you had a private jet, you don't need your own airport. "private
jet" owners use the "not available to mere peons" "executive entrance"
and bypass the entire cattle ranch indignity of the insides of all
airports.

None the less, I think it is true. Several companies have the same rule,
do not change seat till after lift up.

You do have a point! Let's see when I get my hands on one. ;) I was close
to renting one during corona, but the masspsychosis ended before I went
through with it. It was surprisingly cheap, around 5k to 9k EUR per leg
for up to 4 hours I think.

At the moment you are correct. When I buy my private jet, or when family dies
and wife settles down, I suspect I will suffer less. =)

Maybe. It needs looking into and research. Only that way will we be able
to reach the truth of the matter.

This is good advice! I never had the thought, but now I most definitely
won't. ;)

I did find a case for glasses the other day, and thought about taking it
to the lost and found in the mall I was in. My wife, who seems to have
learned your lesson, told me to stop messing around and just leave it were
it was so the owner could backtrack and find it again.

I feel so swedish sometimes!
