In '88 I bought a 'Neanderthal and Proud' bumper sticker at the Earth
Forst! Round River Rendezvous. It is still on the bumper of my pickup
albeit a little worse for wear. Even back then EF was headed down the woke
path led by Roselle and Bari. The FBI informant who was involved in
THERMCON was present and gave a talk on monkeywrenching. As usual the
Feebs love to cultivate idiots so they can later uncover them and claim
credit for their amazing investigative skills. Dave Foreman was one of
their prime targets.

It’s actually quite easy to make the sound of one hand clapping: I worked
it out years ago. Just slap all your fingers (except your thumb) against
your palm at once.

OK, but to get back to the technological thrust of this newsgroup,
what is the sound of one modem communicating?

That's a a claim I had not heard before. I'd be interested in
seeing a reconcilation between that claim and the following
references:

- Judges 17:7-9
- Judges 19:1-2,18
- Ruth 1:1-2 (and others in Ruth)
- 1 Samuel 16:1,4, 16:18, 17:12,15,58, etc.
- 2 Samuel 23:14-16,24
- 1 Chronicles 11:16-18,26
- Jeremiah 41:17
- Micah 5:2

At least some of the above are reasonably specific about a
Bethlehem in Judea rather than Galilee.

Thanks.

Very annoying. Back in the day we would send out alerts to alphanumeric
pagers using the dialup TAP. When a site reported the alerts were not
being received it turned out the dispatcher had gotten sick and tired of
the nearby modem and had unplugged it.

Anthropic means for example that the Universe appear to us a a sequence
of causally linked events in space time because we cant comprehend its
totality.
That is not how it is, that's how we relate to it

The biggest threat to humanity comes from socialism, which has utterly
diverted our attention away from what really matters to our existential
survival, to indulging in navel gazing and faux moral investigations
into what the world ought to be, whilst we fail utterly to deal with
what it actually is.

Maybe you are talking with the wrong people? I think about 100% of the
people I talk with accept that the world is real.

As for not knowing the entire world, that is also not a shocking
revelation. Just look at the theoretical amount of information that can be
stored in the brain vs the amount of information that makes up the world.
The world is bigger.

Or coming at it from another angle, just look at our limited capacities
across the wave spectrum, and compare with all the events out in the world
taking place all across the spectrum.

The second paragraph not many people think about, so that is probably why
you (or I) never hear that much.

This is most likely the truth. Have a look at the gymno-sophists. There is
proof of interaction between ancient greece and india.

tnp: that doesn't answer Heidegger's stupid question.

"residual eXergy" (potential entropy) fuels both "life" (games) & gravity.
Whether it's enough or not depends on what kind of a being you might be.

We had a test routine running at the local 911 centre that would place
test calls on the direct number corresponding to each incoming line
if it hadn't had any activity after a certain period of time. No
modem noises, but to distinguish our calls from actual 911 calls,
we would get the modem to play "Mary had a little lamb" on the line
to tell the operator that this was a test call. If we still didn't
receive a call record we would raise an alarm.

One night the entire telco central office went down, and our alarm
was the first warning anyone got. <sticks feather in cap>

No, you’re just too cheap to replace Ethernet cables with broken clips.
