There is a powerful motivation to keep you thinking that AI is an existential th
reat. That we should treat it with the same level of urgency as a nuclear war or
a global pandemic.
And yet, we shouldn’t stop developing AI. We should accelerate it as fast as w
e can. As long as it’s the select few good guys that get to control it. We mus
t not let AI fall into wrong hands.

But there is a growing opposition to this movement. A conflict is arising. There
is those that want to keep AI closed off and tightly controlled and those that
want to leave it open and accessible to all. Even though both sides claim they a
re doing for humanity, only of them is right. This is an arms race for who gets
to dominate AI development and who will be left out.

The thought error here is in thinking that technology can be contained. By
trying to monopolize it, eventually it will leak, and there will be no
control since the ones who try to monopolize it are governments and
companies working together with governments in secret.

This will lead to far more sinister and dark outcomes, than just spreading
the technology far and wide from the start, letting it develop in public.

I did not yet view the video, but this is my take:

Companies want to eliminate all traces of the GPL as
opposed to Open Source. Large Companies want the free
labor but hates having to give back. I know IBM has a
requirement to never use GPLv3 Software at all, funny
since they just bought Red Hat.

Plus there was the "war" against RMS, that was an attempt
by companies controlling the Linux Foundation to get RMS
out of the FSF.

I am sure there are other examples of this.

now! in this war, just now at LibrePlanet there are 3 related talks to
the video I posted above, so all this people "not watching" but having

That reminds me... what ever happened to VMware? Wasn't there some law
suit that VMware violated the GPL license?
