https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-13688727/Microsoft-365-apps-global-outage-no-email-access.html

Microsoft has been hit by a global outage less than two week
since its systems were brought down by a bug-riddled update
that sparked chaos for millions.

The disruption is impacting emails, Xbox Live and 365 functions,
all of which were knocked offline on July 19.

Reports about Tuesday's problems surfaced around 9:15am ET.

Microsoft's service status website shows an alert for
'network infrastructure,' which is critical for connectivity
and communication between users, apps, devices and the internet.

.. . .

Reportedly 'Azure' was having big problems as well.

Well, so much for all those reports and timesheets
and orders and, well, pretty much everything most
small/medium businesses have to do.

So, how much money is involved in paralyzing most
every M$ biz-related PC in the world for a day ?
Winders boxes not only have to be running, but
licensing evils mean a lot of stuff won't work
even with just a connectivity problem because
everything's 'cloud'.

As of 6pm EDST the M$ portal now claims everything
is up and running again. So far I've seen no solid
cause mentioned for the global outage.

Followup :

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-13692235/Microsoft-confirms-CYBERATTACK-latest-outage.html

Microsoft now admits that its services were taken out by a
Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attack which was
'amplified' by an error in the company's cyber defences.

Experts say the true culprits may never be identified but
that they were likely encouraged to strike by Microsoft's
recent service troubles.
