That's not the case. Even under Roe, abortions were limited to under 20 weeks EXCEPT for
provable medical reasons.

That oddity only exists because of the SCOTUS repeal of Roe.

Prior to Roe, the law was uniform nationally, where 3rd Trimester abortions
were both extremely rare as well as clearly justified medically.

FYI, the reversion to what was on the books 50 years ago across 50 states
is merely an illustration of how abortion rights had become set law, which
had relieved various States from the need and costs to go maintain their
own redundant set of laws on the same.

If you thought that getting Congress to pass new, controversial legislation
was slow, the current situation is that you’ve now multiplied that by 50.
