It's called "boojy" (bourgeois). Apple cult followers are happy to
pay exorbitant amounts, to get something their dumb brains can figure
out. Other people have far better computers for far less money, like
me, even including the $200 I paid for my Winblows license, I made out
like a bandit building my own, compared to Apple's bullshit. I might
have the luxury of having time to assemble the computer, and such,
maybe that's part of their rationale, but JFC they pay through the
nose to those people, and for what? Nice hardware but total crap
software. You can get a PC laptop now with ARM, and soon other
devices will come along with it.

Ultimately it's specific skill with computers that makes Linux nice.
But Windows should be higher than macOS, to me, there's more substance
to it. Using *Darwin*, though, makes up for what Apple's own design
lacks, but Darwin and macOS are not two parts of the same thing,
they're two things running in parallel. macOS in fact makes what I
famously call "Winblows" actually a very advanced operating system if
you look at what it's capable of. Windows blows simply because it's
huge. It spares no expense.

I am impressed by what I have with the footprint of Xfce. It's good
enough for someone who can work around a deficit of GUI smoothness.

Samsung is trying to compete with Apple's featuritis, such as being able to do
messaging and answer calls on the tablet as well as the phone... with
a Samsung account, of course.

The face recognition on the S24 is not as reliable as on the iPhonej; it
memorizes only one (frontal) view.

Samsung is going to drop its messaging app in favor of Googles. Why, because
the latter supports RCS (Google's rich communications service), which is
on par with the iPhone's messaging. However, iPhone will apparently soon
support RCS, in part because of the European lawsuit that also got USB-C to
replace Lightning on the latest iPhone (IIRC).

Our iPad froze up yesterday; the Home button wouldn't work. The fixes shown on
the web did not work. I kept dicking with the thing for awhile, and somehow
got it working again. Or maybe it was just a matter of time.

So far my Galaxy Tab has worked flawlessly. And I'm quite happy with the S24.
One thing that I like about it over the iPhone is that you have to push a
button to show the login screen. One the iPhone, a touch would turn it on, so
that putting it in one's pocket might cause some (annoying) action to occur.

I've got Xfce on the Debian box. I wouldn't say it's my all time favorite
but it works out of the box. Other than hunting down the screen to set the
mouse to left handed the last time I remember doing much configuration was
with IceWM many moons ago. Then the thrill wore off.

Most of the supercalifragilisticexpialidocious features they work so hard
to add to WMs like animated windows that come down with ague when you move
them only annoy me.
