Because point here is that chrisv effectively refused to answer the
question posed, namely that since genetic variations exist, why is it that
he’s refused to disqualify Phelps?

variation that the IOC has allowed.

Boxing is a “combat” sport? In the meantime, I’ve not seen any weight
class divisions in any of the shooting disciplines…nor archery, nor
equestrian.

I remember when the Ultimate Fighting Championship first got going in
the late 1990s, they simply put fighters in the ring without a thought
as to whether a 300lb guy might have an advantage over a 160lb one whose
martial arts skills were superior. I don't recall too many memorable
matches in that first event. However, the UFC now separates by weight
like everyone else should. A 150lb woman will fight a 150lb woman, give
or take a pound or two, whereas a 250lb man will fight a 250lb man. A
heavier man can fight a leaner one... if he loses the weight. This
ensures that the fights are fair and exciting.

What did the IOC expect was going to happen if a man fought a woman?

It's hard to take anything -highhorse say seriously. About the only thing we
