Yes! It is fascinating how a group can split into not only two, but many
parallell universes with their own sub cultures, ideologies and norms. But
not only usenet, but perhaps the world as well? We bring the assumption
that we should only have to read or interact with people like ourselves
into the real world, and also experience fractured or split communities,
work places etc. although granted, not as cleanly divided as with
killfiles on usenet.

This is an established technique to acquire political power. Identity
politics is based on the idea of splitting, and of one identity then
"winning" capturing the power. But once that has happened, that identity
might split, and you have a new battle until a leader emerges who has
managed to cancel the competing identities, and then another schism, until
the nr of members of the identity becomes too small to be able to wield
political power.

philosophical discipline or a priori speculation upon questions
that are unanswerable to scientific observation, analysis, or experiment.

By the very nature of them being unanswerable, the connection between them
and the world is nil. We have hypothesis and experiment that tells us
there is an external world which such certainty, that the burden of proof
is on the one who does not believe in the external world, to disprove the
external world, and no one has so far succeeded at that.

Metaphysics, at least on usenet, tends to devolve into solipsism or
aggressive skepticism, which is a dead end.
