I don't recall ever consuming one, but I imagine that it tastes no
better than a glass of water does. I find that there is very light
flavour to an American beer, particularly a light one. I think I've only
had Coors Light though at my brother-in-law's.

I still haven't forgiven Gillette for their ad campaign demonizing men.
It was idiotic on their part. I still think their razors are superior to
what I'm using, but I don't care.

That's what a lot of people are already doing in poorer countries. Many are
still using Windows 7... or Linux.

Like video games, I don't know squat about beer. I just know that Bud Light
was much more popular than it is now. Some of their ads used to entertain me
back when I watched TV.

I remember those also — actually I remember reading about those ads (and
seeing them on YouTube) I was already not watching TV.

Go Woke, go broke. Look what Disney has done to the Lucas Films, Pixar and
the Disney brand itself. The agenda is more important to these Woke morons
than are their sales.

The moment you no longer get security updates, the smart thing to do is
to use Linux. There are no two ways about it. Using something that is no
longer supported is exposing yourself to the many types of malware that
will emerge the moment that operating system is finished. If Linux
doesn't work for you, use Haiku or just install FreeDOS.

I agree, but (like many in the U.S.) they probably want to run Windows-only
applications. And there's probably a lot of them who use Windows without any
Internet access at all — so less danger of malware.

I had to give up on Windows 7 when newer applications wouldn't install
like VS Code, but for day to day use it was as good as it ever was.

Tractor Supply walked back rapidly. Bud might have thought their target
audience was young, hip, urbanites that would thing Dylan whoever was cool
but when you customer base literally consists of rednecks you've got to be
beyond stupid to go that route. 'Brokeback Mountain' was a Hollywood
fantasy.

Yeah, I noticed that Tractor Supply "saw the light." Even John Deere
recently backtracked (partially). I think the smartest thing for a company
to do is remain neutral in politics, but Woke crap when your main business
is to farmers? That's beyond stupid.

Remember the early days of the “Netbook” era? Petite machines like the
Asus Eee 701 (I still have one) with SSDs instead of hard drives, and
Linux instead of Windows?

This was about the time Microsoft was trying to phase out XP in favour of
Vista. But bloated Vista would never run on such low-end hardware. So it
made a quick 180°, gave XP a reprieve from death, and made it part of a
new category of machines, the “Windows Netbooks”. Only these had somewhat
fatter (i.e. more expensive) specs than the Linux-based ones. And they
couldn’t run off SSDs, because XP needed a page file (unlike Linux, where
it was optional), and the continual writing to the page file would wear
out the SSD.

This was also about the time of Nicholas Negroponte’s “One Laptop Per
Child” project. That was going to be a Linux-based machine that could be
made very cheaply for use by third-world schoolchildren, without the need
for an expensive support infrastructure in case of failures etc. Back
then, the Microsoft anti-Linux marketing machine was in full swing, and
both OLPC and the Netbooks, which were inspired by OLPC, were in their
sights.

I have a theory about “Linux on the desktop”: it is that the definition of
“desktop” keeps narrowing, to keep up (down?) with Windows’ shrinking
share of the total computing market.

Meanwhile, Linux is busy gobbling up all the rest.

IIRC, the CEO of Asus apologized to Microsoft for that little Linux box.

I got one of those as a Christmas present. It was fun to play with.
I replaced the OS with Debian. It wasn't fast, but I could write and
build C code on it.

Some idiot troll named "Hadron" of course made fun of it. What an asshole!

You can install Gnome, KDE, xfce and LXQt on the same machine and switch
between them at the login. As long as you don't use them, the just take
more place on your hard drive, no other ressource is needed. You can try
to [de]activate all the "nice" effects, like the 3D, to see the
differences.

I would not drink it for free. I would need to be paid a lot to drink that.

He precised he has admin rights, so it's not a technical possibility.
It's a legal one.

I didn't see more than the first minute of the video. Maybe the end is

It's an acquired taste. I happen to like ranting and cursing (except here).

I put Q4OS on mine. It works if you don't get greedy and try to install
too many packages.

Not that ambitious. Besides, I don't log in very often. I had to today
because the power was out since Wednesday and everything was shut down.

I was on the porch reading when the sky clouded up and there was a little
thunder. It started to sprinkle and I thought I'd better move inside. Then
the wind hit and a lawn chair went by at about 30 mph. I retrieved it and
weighed it down and by then the gusts were strong enough that I couldn't
walk upwind and had to wait for a break. Then the lights went out.

Some very large Ponderosa pines were torn up by the roots while others
snapped off above ground. Out on the main road about a mile of power poles
were snapped off. It was strange what went down and what didn't. Down the
road a pine went down pointing north while a nearby one fell pointing
south.

I figured it would be out for a while so I shutdown the computers. When it
was over I walked up a hill and could see lights across the river and down
towards town so I knew the area wasn't completely out.

I lost a package of strawberries that molded and threw out a small jar of
mayo that was iffy but that was it. I have a headlamp so I could read in
the dark or just mess around with the banjo/guitar/flutes. Don't need
light for that after I groped around to find them.

I had drinking water but the biggest hassle was getting buckets of water
to flush the toilet. Plan 1 was to dip out of the irrigation ditch but it
was dry. I don't know what is up with that since it's still flowing up
where it leaves the river. Plan 2 was to get it from the river. That
worked, but the bank was pretty steep. Plan 3 involved another irrigation
ditch a couple of miles away that was more accessible.

It wasn't a big thing. Last winter when it was 20 below the power went out
for about 6 hours and that one really worried me.
