In an era where digital assholes and their python crutches
are on the ascendant, the better portion of the web is still
ruled by Perl.

The international standard for professional mathematical
communication is LaTeX and to convert LaTeX documents into
web pages there is LaTeXML.

LaTeXML is used by the prestigious NIST in their library
of math functions:

https://dlmf.nist.gov/

It is also being used by the arXiv repository:

https://arxiv.org/

What programming language is used to create this fantastic
utility?

Perl.

Perl, Perl, and only Perl.

Their ain't no digital assholes involved in this project.

One piddly website? It's laughable.

Cornell, and all university, compsci curriculums across the world teach
and use combinations of Python, C, C++, Java and very occasionally
Scheme, Lisp or Haskell. But Python is by far the most commonly used
and taught language in academia.

perl, on the other hand, is almost never used or taught or even
mentioned. Hardly anyone likes that ugly, unreadable, unmaintainable
language.

So quit being a digital asshole. Keep your outdated, invalid,
incorrect, backward advice out of cola.

I could never figure out LaTEX, or TEX for that matter.

I do put mathematical formulas frequently in Jupyter notebooks, but that
uses MathJax to render them. Think of it as a reimplementation of just the
part of LaTEX that does the maths, and dumping the rest.

I use LaTex for writing multi-hundred page documents. Took awhile to set up a
decent document template with some custom macros. Now it's all automatic.

Haven't tried alternatives like DocBooks (XML, ugh).

I do use LibreOffice for short documents and spreadsheets.
