Microsoft is saying about 8.5 million Windows machines were affected by
the CrowdStrike fiasco--that’s less than 1% of the Windows installed base.

In other words, that’s how few mission-critical business systems are
reliant on Windows these days.

Their server products are just inferior in some respects to Linux,
they have their uses but yes this isn't like a wipeout of computers,
it's a fiasco as you say but a resolvable one.

That still means a share of less than 50 million Windows machines in this
market.

Yeah, but it's what those 50 million Windows machines are used for that
counts. Banks, airlines, train terminals, point of sale machines, etc. In
the big scheme of things these are a lot more important than home office
computers or gaming machines.

And this is where people should be using Linux servers. Where stability
matters.
