Since Linux Mint uses the Ubuntu packages for its own distribution, as
does Pop_OS!, they both become useless as daily drivers. When simply
making a distribution which can stay on becomes too difficult for the
Linux community, you know that you might as well look elsewhere.
Unfortunately, even projects like Haiku have succumbed to the mind virus
that caused Chris Ahlstrom to get turned on by the sight of German
sausages.

People will argue that this doesn't happen to them, but I don't believe
them at all. It's not normal that within minutes, hours or a day of
installing a Linux distribution cleanly, I get random freezes. If I do,
on a computer where everything was tested by a technician and the
motherboard and processor are new, then they do as well. I imagine that
denial is what is causing them not to be truthful about their experience.

Face it, we love Linux but we hate that it's been taken over by flaming
faggots.

I don't get random freezes in Linux and I haven't gotten them during the 18
years (or so) that I've been using Linux almost exclusively. Again, I use
(and have used) straightforward business computers (mostly Dell), nothing
"cutting edge" so that's probably why. You claim that I'm "in denial" is
utter bullshit. Same tactic DuFuS always used. Basically, it's "I can't get
Linux to work so obviously nobody can either — if they say they can they're
liars." The problems you experience with Linux are not my problems. Period.

It doesn't take much "figuring." You don't use simple business computers
with Intel GPUs, like I do. You use nVidia GPUs instead, notorious for
issues with Linux (and sometimes Windows). You play Windows video games that
have to be emulated in Linux and you're still jumping back and forth between
Windows and Linux instead of trying to fix any problems when they come up.
And you're trying to make Linux work like Windows.

For the first few years that I tried Linux I did the same thing. Wanted
Linux to work like Windows and, when I had any kind of problem, I abandoned
Linux and went back to Windows. It wasn't until I decided that I was going
to stick with Linux that I finally began to understand it, its file system
and how to make it work the way I wanted it to work.

A lot of Windows users, who keep trying Linux and going back, don't really
understand how many years they've been using Windows or how much they
learned about Windows over those years. And they expect to immediately be
proficient in Linux — it doesn't work that way. It takes a little effort.
And, as I've said often, if you like to play Windows video games, you're
probably better off sticking with Windows. (I say "probably" because I have
no personal experience with these games.)

I'm using an NVIDIA RTX GPU. Only issue currently is the binary
blob driver won't build for Linux 6.10, but we are on the eve of
a new driver release. Linux 6.11 is also about to be released, which
has a 20% speed improvement in some I/O on ext4 filesystems.

So what do you believe is causing the random freezes people with Ubuntu
and Ubuntu-derived distributions have on NVIDIA-equipped computers? I'd
install it again just to provide you with the information you would need
to diagnose the problem, but you'll understand why I might be reluctant
to do that right now.
