Well, more than a "song about Linux" -- NVIDIA is harmonizing:

Linux lm 6.9.9 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Wed Jul 17 17:24:13 PDT 2024 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

The alert reader will note that Linux 6.10 is available -- however,
the NVIDIA drivers need to be updated to use it.

https://kernel.org

I really hope NVIDIA continues with their efforts to open up
their drivers, and get them into the kernel.

In any event, Linux 6.9.9 is the stable release -- 6.10 is "mainline".

(Others on the proper NVIDIA support forum have reported the
same issue with the driver incompatibility, and someone
reported that 6.9.9 _did_ work, so here I am.)

For those of you having trouble with "random freezes", please
consider examining your dmesg output. I ran into a problem with
an earlier set of drivers that was causing a lot of problems for the
kernel, and others have reported trouble with those same drivers.

With Linux 6.9.9, I'm using:
NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-555.58.02

...which has the CUDA support. This is the "new feature" branch
on https://nvidia.com .

This wasn't AI.

Funny though, I just used ChatGPT to get an answer to another question.

One of my favorite uses of AI is to collaborate to create art with
Foocus, which uses pyTorch.

That is one good-looking woman. I like to use Microsoft Designer to make
images myself. The stuff it creates in seconds is much prettier than
anything I could have worked on for hours or days.

I know Linuxiac said - with barely any pushback by cola advocates - that
Linux was 'up to 50x faster' than Windows, but he was very crazed and
dishonest.

So don't get confused and depressed by reality:

Windows is fast on matched gear, my machine would clearly benefit from
staying with Win11, no upgrades to new versions, though, whereas Linux
will preserve and support it for longer.

Windows 10 came out in 2015 and is going to be supported until next year
for a total of ten years. How long do you believe that you will hold
onto your hardware that you would need more than ten years of support
for it?

I built my computer at the very end of 10's reign, it was an obvious
one to immediately upgrade to 11 on, albeit M$ used the opportunity to
screw with me back, which I deserved and put up with.

Just booted up my Dell Latitude D630. It shipped to its original owner on
February 28th, 2009. It can still run the newest version of Linux Mint. So,
15+ years and going strong.

Or my XPS Dell M1330, which shipped on September 8th, 2007. Almost 17 years
old. It's running Linux Mint 20. (I guess it's about time to update it to LM
22.) From switching on to being on the Internet, it takes about 35 seconds.

One real advantage of these old laptops is that that they had real (or
closer to real) keyboards, instead of those flat, limited motion ones that
come with newer laptops.

Yes, but my preference for lighter features isn't.

What's the exact 'text input' you submitted that returned that image?

Cool.

Do you get a different pic every time you submit that description?

I tried it 5x at https://fooocus.one/playground

Each time I got:

"Error
This application is currently busy. Please try again."

Yes, unless you feed it the same seed. (By default, it uses
a random seed.)

I hadn't considered that anyone would try to run it as a hosted app.

Run it locally on your own GPU:

I installed it on Windows and while it makes nice images, I prefer the
results I get with Microsoft Designer through Edge. Of course, the
latter allows you to write in plain English. I imagine that what I'm
putting in the prompts is not correct.

At least for that description, Bloaty's Fooocus pic is far, far superior
to any of the 4 that MS Designer generated:

Try the other one, "angels are the heros", and see what MS Designer
gives you.

It's an example of giving the program something vague, so it has leeway
in its interpretation. I find it interesting to see what it "imagines".

Not sure I understand. My prompt is in "plain English", but it is a
description:

"close-up of black-haired sicilian woman wearing a summer hat in a
field of flowers at noontime"

BTW, under Foocus/outputs are subdirectories (by date) with
your generated images, as well as a file "log.html" that
will show you the images with the prompts that generated them.

I like the 2 Fooocus pics much better than the MS Designer images. But
I'll play with both and try some non-human themes.

It is, but Fooocus did a pretty poor job with the description I gave it:

A young teenage student dressed in her uniform blows a kiss in the shape
of a butterfly at the silhouette of an older boy drawn in the style of
