So the iPhone of the SU (spousal unit) was acting up; the SIM would come up as
unreadable. A reboot would temporarily fix it. Cleaning the SIM and cartridge
did nothing.

So the SU goes to the provider's store to have the problem looked at.
I get a call saying that both our iPhone were of versions that would slowly
screw up the SIM due to upates. True? Who knows?

So we get a deal where I can turn in my iPhone for a big refund and get a new
phone. What do I want? A couple of choices. Since I already had a Samsung
Galaxy tablet and liked the interface, I went with the S24, on such short
notice. One feature is that it can use a SIM or an eSIM.

It's been a lot of fun setting it up! It's fast and smooth. I can install
my home-made ringtones. Copying all my MP3's to it took awhile, as I tried to
hook the S24 as a USB drive, but it would only charge... a cable issue?
I ended up plugging a USB drive into the USB-C docking station I used on the
work laptop to connect HDMI, mouse, and wired network. Plugged it into the
phone and copied.

The only real stopper so far is the I cannot get Free42 to have permission to
read the directory where I stored my custom skins.

Oh, another issue was that I could text the SU, but she could not text back.
I disabled iMessage, restarted Messages, then enabled iMessage, and then
texting was fine. No wonder Apple got sued.

Well, it's a good thing it worked out in the end. I haven't used Android
in a while, tho I wish I could.

I have had an S21 for almost three years, it's still good. You should
like your new device.

abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the
United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of

Dobbs rewrites this, it is invalid precedent. States are

On my Pixel, I have to go into settings and enable file transfer.
Security, I guess.

On my Pixel 3a I have to go to (I think) MTP (or something like that) first,
then I can go to the file transfer setting. I don't know why it requires
that intermediate step, but it does.

The service provider's instructions for the S24 state that a USB mode prompt is
supposed to come up when plugged in, but it does not. Maybe the cable is just
wired for charging.

Actually, the worst thing about the new phone is that the on/off button
is in a different position; the volume keys are on the left (which I like),
so I keep hitting volume-down by accident. :-D

I had forgotten how use the "Back" icon is on Android. The iPhone is
clumsy in that regard.
