What puts Torvalds under the influence of Red Hat, or any other tech
company including IBM, that's the freedom he and GNU brought to the
OS, IBM was a partner and I'm fairly sure that hasn't changed, Red Hat
a major contributor to the ecosystem, but his kernel core of
developers don't answer to them, you could not have a FOSS OS without
the licenses, which are inclusive of business, that were made to
protect the public's interest in the progress of the code over time.

One could claim that a certain original developer like with the Linux
kernel or another key project had too much control, but it would be a
mistake to think these folks have hoarded control for a small
representation of developers, they have something that rivals even
Microsoft Windows but supports a range of hardware, and that's only
looking at its desktop applications.

You aren't addressing the history of white privilege, though, it's
just like the antiabortion drones I see on X/Twitter, who can't
address the rights of pregnant people, all they want to talk about is
the horror of clumps of cells being electively aborted, or how women
