President Biden mistakenly referred to Ukrainian President Volodymyr
Zelenskyy as Russian President Vladimir Putin during a NATO summit in
Washington, D.C. Thursday.

“And now I want to hand it over to the president of Ukraine, who has as
much courage as he has determination. Ladies and gentlemen, President
Putin,” Biden said, before starting to leave the podium.

Biden then seemed to realize his mistake, and corrected himself. “He’s
going to beat President Putin. President Zelenskyy. I’m so focused on
beating Putin. We got to worry about it. Anyway, Mr. President.”

Zelenskyy appeared on stage, shook Biden’s hand and said, “I’m better.”

“You are a hell of a lot better,” Biden said.

The flub comes ahead of Biden’s high-stakes press conference that will
be heavily scrutinized as the president fends off a growing number of
calls from within his own party to drop out of the presidential race,
following his disastrous debate performance last month that re-ignited
concerns over his mental fitness and age.'
'Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, D-Wash., on Thursday issued a statement
to local outlet KGW 8 , strongly suggesting that President Biden should
bow out of the 2024 race.

Gluesenkamp Perez said that she, like her constituents, “doubt the
President’s judgement about his health, his fitness to do the job, and
whether he is the one making important decisions about our country,
rather than unelected advisors."

"Americans deserve to feel their president is fit enough to do the job.
The crisis of confidence in the President’s leadership needs to come to
an end,” Gluesenkamp Perez said. “The President should do what he knows
is right for the country and put the national interest first."

Perez, who represents a district that voted red in 2020, said last week
that Biden’s debate performance against former President Trump was
“painful” to watch and admitted that she believes, “Biden is going to
lose to Trump.”'

On Wednesday, actor George Clooney called on Biden to leave the 2024
race, citing what he witnessed at a Hollywood fundraiser in late June
