Note that when I say "Free", I mean truly Free. Unlike so many phone
apps, where you agree to let them track you and sell your data, just
so that you can save a dollar.

A have a friend who is a bit of a cheapskate. Despite being quite
politically conservative, and despite having *plenty* of money, he
boasted of having some phone app that gets him a discount on gas and
other various things that he buys. *Obviously* the trade-off is them
knowing about everything that you buy.

I'm thinking "None for me, thanks. I don't need to save that dollar."

His position is pretty clear and he has held onto it for as long as he
has been alive. He is also willing to defend it, and does so to the best
of his ability. We can disagree with him, but some of his points are
quite true regardless of how controversial they might be.

You _can_ connect to the Internet while installing most Linux
distributions to have it update as it installs but if you don't, that's
fine too. It doesn't require you to do one or the other, in my experience.

I'd be more worried about snipping the replies easier..selecting text on
a phone can be hard sometimes.

To be fair, the "full" install is a couple gigabytes more usually. But,
it is just installing packages instead of forcing an account on you.
