By the time the Allies crossed into Germany
the Russians already occupied all of Eastern
Europe. The Americans were not ready to fight
Russians for it, he extracted the most promises
he could from Stalin. And with America desperately
needing the Russians to help with the war for
Japan he could not do more. As it was he got
them to leave Austria and stay out of Greece.
