Gentoo released a new version of its Live GUI USB:

Just dd to a thumb drive and check it out.

I did and what did I see?

The Live GUI is based on KDE and the first thing that greeted me
was this:

"The KDE mascot Konqui welcomes you ..."

A "cutesy" icon of some silly animal was situated on top.

What the fuck is this juvenile bullshit? Saturday morning cartoons?

But that was far from all. The backdrop was a fuzzy mountain range
with an azure twilight sky.

WTF! Listen, assholes! The twilight sky is NOT azure!!!

The whole thing looked like a very, very poor imitation of Microslop
Winblows, right down to the hokey bottom bar to the insipid and colorless,
super-diluted pastel, and border-less windows.

It was enough to make me almost puke.

I can only imagine the reaction of first-time Linux users
when they see this junk. They would not be at all impressed.
They would just walk away.

I've never experienced the GNOME DE but it must be just
as juvenile and listless.

With GUI interfaces that look like they were designed
by retarded children attempting to clone Microslop,
Linux will NEVER attract desktop users. NEVER.

GNU/Linux is a PROFESSIONAL OS. My FVWM3 GUI looks
like a pro interface, and other WMs look pro as well.

But KDE/GNOME? The local kindergarten could do better.

That must be your beloved Gentoo. I had to google for Konqui to find out
what it is despite using several KDE based distros including the current
Fedora 40 KDE spin.

The default wallpaper on my machine is a trail winding through a forest.
If I replaced it with one of my photos it would be very similar, although
not a hardwood forest.

Two things:
- First, the Gentoo maintainers aren't here, so your message is, like

The first time Linux users aren't looking at the picture of the
background for hours. They try to use Linux, so they open applications
and the background is hidden by the applications. So it doesn't matter
that much. Except on your computer where you are so surprised when it
works that you're afraid to open anything. And the background is the
only thing that matters on your computer. I'm surprised to see you never
managed to put something that suits you. Like a picture of you puking or
shitting. Or a picture of your pet dog the terrorist.

With Gnome, like with KDE, you can change the background. So the choice
of the background by the end-users can't be blamed on the Gnome and KDE
devs. And your inability to change the defaults of your distro, when
everyone else in the world can, provide more insight of your limitation
than of the tastes of the distro maintainers.

I'm trying to figure out *which* Linux desktop no one supposedly wants. My
problem is I like several of them.
