Thanks. It was, but spending 12 hours on the road definitely exposes
you to idiots and danger.

A very large pickup just barely ahead of me started swerving into my
lane at 75 with no signal. A quick honk kept them from hitting me.

And something weird happened later: a Tesla driven by a negroid shadowed
us for a couple miles, staying in a blind spot to my right. I sped up
or slowed down significantly and within seconds he was matching our
speed and in the same spot. It could not have happened by coincidence.
Don't know what his major malfunction was - testing autopilot maybe?
Then he seriously tailgated another car for a while, and moved on.

I arrived there and back home alive!

grace of God go I, I was younger and full of testosterone once. Glad

No doubt. I risked my and my friends' and strangers' lives many times
in my teens, mostly just driving too fast. Not reckless and maniacal,
but too fast to stop if someone pulled out of a side street.

6 months after high school graduation (my first quarter in college) a
couple of my 18-year-old friends from high school died in a car
accident. One lived on my dorm hall, and was home for Christmas break
when it happened. It was very upsetting.

Yeah, it's tragic. We need cars but they are hazards, in the hands of
people without the perspective to stay safe.

We visited my wife's extended family over the holiday. One of her
cousins bought their 17- and 18-year-old daughters brand new 2024
vehicles: a Dodge Hornet GT and a Subaru BRZ. They're responsible girls
as far as I know, but those are very fast cars. Definitely wouldn't
have been my first choices for a teenager.

Yeah, I just don't get it, fast cars are fun to drive to be sure, but
getting tickets isn't, getting a suspended license isn't, losing the

He wasn't driving. The AI found a spot it liked and was doing an excellent
job of maintaining position.

Lucky kid. The last time I was in the Toyota showroom the Toyota 86, which
is basically the same as the BRZ, was calling my name. I've gotten
competent with FWD but I was weaned on RWD cars and prefer them.

one thing that saved me was the hideous green color that was an extra
charge. If I bought one it wouldn't have been that one. The Brits may like
BRG but green cars were bad luck where I come from. My '73 Mustang was
green and met an untimely death one foggy morning.

I've reached the point where I rarely exceed the limit. otoh I don't waste
any time getting from 0 to whatever the limit is. There is room in one of
Dante's circles of hell for people who pull away from a stop sign like

I will do 65-70 on a clear freeway, but other than that I am largely
within the limit or only a trivial amount above. Driving at this
point in my life is a talent, not a game. I didn't get lucky enough
to survive to this age, without an appreciation for not being
physically mangled or dead.

Dobbs rewrites this, it is invalid precedent. States are
liable for denying needed abortions, e.g. TX.

In this state you might get run over. Outside of where they pass through
cities or some twisty stuff going up Overlook Pass the limit on I-90,
I-94, and I-15 is 80 mph.

Oddly, very few go over 80 and then it's only 2 or 3 mph possibly from
inattention unlike the east coast or California where everybody is 10 to
15 mph over.
