I like the idea behind LinuxFX and Wubuntu, show that Microsoft's
bloat isn't a requirement to get a workable GUI system (glares at
Larry), we won the OS wars. People just haven't heard the news.

You guys are joking of course (especially rBowman's German sense of
humor "shines"! like it should), but these distros are attempts by those
who don't know how to fight Microsoft in its owning and limiting Linux
to a tiny community, and not all, to make Linux popular. They all fail
of course because they think problem is in visual aspects of linux OS.

To kick Microsoft's Windows' ass, a Linux expert should make the process
of installing additional software very simple for users, and at the same
time does not go on Microsoft's payrol by the end of the same day that
he presents that distro to public.

That's how you fight MS.

_None_ of the linux experts have that guts. Not one of them, from lower
down to the top of the pyramid. So Linux in this country is sitting
there as something that suits cro-magnons. They cannot have anything
better than how Linux is now.

Ever install Visual Studio? Takes up more time and disk space than a Linux
install.

Minimum 2 vCPU and 8 GB RAM. 4 vCPU and 16 GB of RAM recommended. Hard
disk space: Minimum of 850 MB up to 210 GB of available space, depending
on features installed; typical installations require 20-50 GB of free
space. We recommend installing Windows and Visual Studio on a solid-state
drive (SSD) to increase performance.

Anyway, to build C/C++ code on Windows I use Git Bash and Mingw64.
Also, for convenience, Qt Creator using mingw as the compiler and toolset.
That's a fairly big install itself. I would like to get the code to build
using autotools in MSYS2 at some point.

Sure, but Visual Studio is an App, not an OS.

Granted, Clippy was part of the MS-Office App, not the OS, but MS has
had some fuzzy disembarkation lines for decades (eg, Internet Explorer).

And FWIW, I'm not saying that RonB was wrong to be complaining about
Clippy .. it was bad .. but simply that sins from a couple of decades
ago just aren't all that relevant anymore to contemporary life.
