My new machine will arrive in a few weeks (from Hong Kong)
and I must prepare.

To build a custom kernel all of the hardware must be known.

But what does Gigabyte offer? Their motherboard manual describes
2 LAN chips as "Intel GbE" and "Intel 2.5 GbE." What the fuck
does that mean? I need the exact chip number you fucking
Gigabyte assholes!

Fortunately I found this (and a few others like it):

https://linux-hardware.org/?probe=50112672d6

The 2 chips are, respectively, I219-LM and I225-LM. The kernel
modules that need to be built are, respectively, "e1000e" and
"igc."

Now I've got all the info that I need. (I will disable the
on-board GPU and audio.)

I give a hearty thanks to the GNU/Linux community for contributing
this critical information.

This machine, even though it is several years "behind the times,"
will, when I am finished with building and configuring, beat
the living fuck out of any more "modern" machine.

Hail Linux!

Hail GNU and the FSF!

Hail Dr. Richard M. Stallman!

And fuck those grubbing pieces of commercial shit Microslop
and Apphople.
