I have decided to trash my accessory Core i7 machine and replace it
with a Xeon W based system.

The last time I checked, a Xeon W system would cost over $2K and
I was reluctant.

But now I found some fantastic bargains:

Xeon W-1270P

Gigabyte W480 Visual W

All I need is memory and a heat sink and I'm in business for
less that $1K. (I can reuse my power supply, video card, and
SATA HDD drives -- for now.)

The Xeon W-1270P has 8 cores but it lacks AVX-512 which is no
problem because this my accessory machine.

Of course I would NEVER install that stinking pile of garbage
known as Microshit Winblows on this THIS fantastic machine.

ONLY GNU/Linux can bring out the true power.

ONLY GNU/Linux.

The case is closed.

I hope it supports Linux. My Xeon machine (S20) cannot support Linux. I
can install it, but it crashes after a minute or so.

It works with Windows fine, although I've not used it for months since I
began using my linux machine

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! What a dumb-head!

I am merely reporting the CPU type and basic specs.

The Xeon W is a better processor overall. It is more
durable than all AMD junk and it uses ECC memory (of
which I shall acquire 32 G).

However, I am "going on" about the remarkable bargains
that I have encountered. Current Xeon W processors
with similar specs cost about four times as much and
the same for motherboards.

The computer is still there gathering dust. I may clean it up and
install Linux yet another time (I've done it two times without success -
a year apart) using mb's own graphics driver to see if it works. That
computer is a gem. Old but very powerful as far as how I used it.

The fucking commercial computer market is totally insane. There
are new chips released every quarter and the "old" models are

However, if my Hong Kong supplier comes through, I will have a
great system for comparatively dirt cheap.

Furthermore, the GNU/Linux OS will make it perform to its utmost.

I don't know. Some of you guys are computer science majors. So the
computer itself means a lot to you. You know, like car enthusiasts. I've
never bought a new car. I don't pay that price for a car. A car to me is
something that passes inspections and doesn't look like a wreck and
reliably and comfortably takes me to places I want. Such a car is a
tenth of the price of a new car.

Same with computers. I have a heck of a lot of fun with something as
simple as BASIC-F app on my 2nd hand android phone. I program with it
stuff to use when walking, etc. Stuff that are so fine tuned to exactly
what I need that no app on Google Store can do. Computer itself is not
my passion.
