Just yesterday, Agent crashed when I tried to download Larry's video
from abm.transformation, I had forgotten I installed Pan for binaries
because of that quirk with Wine. So best of luck with M$ Office newer
than 2016 (I was told by Copilot it works under Wine).

Putting spyware doesn't imply that they spy on you. They can give the
tools to others to spy on you. And the fact is: they do. I know an
adminsys who told me it's very impressive what an adminsys can know
about everything done by the users. A manager can ask an adminsys to
tell him anything someone did with his computer: it comes by default and
it is really easy to use.

I ran Wireshark at work once to try to figure out the Cisco crapware they used
to verify that the machine was "approved" (they supported Windows and OSX).
I saw it would be impossible to replicate on Linux.

Later, of course, the Company blacklisted Wireshark :-D

And trashed my Linux partition :-D :-D :-D

That's something I can understand.

First running whireshark can give you a lot of information about your
company's network. Probably more than you need to have for your work.
So, they have to protect themselves from you. Because you can change
company in your future new company can be interested in the data you can
have from your former company.

Second, they are legally responsible of what you do when you are paid by
them. So, if you have a partition they are unable to see, on which you
can have illegal stuff, they have to protect themselves from you.

So, I see nothing wrong with that. When you work for a company, you have
to comply to their rules. Or change your company if you don't like their
rules. But I find nothing wrong with you both sentences. If your work
requires either wireshark or a Linux partition, you can see with them
and they'll let you have any of them. If wireshark or a Linux partition
is not require but only useful, you can explain why you'll be less
productive and everything is fine.

I know LP/FR/DG/whatever has no idea about the usefulness of security,
but security is always a compromise between usability and protection.
You'll have to find where you can put the cursor with your
manager/security team. Sometimes, you'll find you just can't do
something for security reasons. If your need is more important than
security, you'll have to find how to do it with the minimum risks
involved.

It's conceivable there could come a day when I won't tolerate some MS
policy or another, and switch to Macs or Linux. Unlikely but possible.

within what might first appear to be a single claim. I don't think
that telemetry equals spying (although it obviously can be spying) and

There are lots of reasons for switching from Windows to Mac or Linux.
But switching from Windows to Mac because you don't like Microsoft
policy looks really funny to me.

I'm happy you are not the one making laws in France. The issue is not
about using my computer for personal reasons. The issue is being
monitored by someone who can believe that if I don't use my computer for
one hour it's because I'm not working. Like Musk who believes that the
best programmer is the one who write the most lines of code.

He didn't literally said that Microsoft was spying, but that spyware
were included in the system. Even he probably imply it. And that's just
what I said.
